2013 or 2014 honda civic

Hi Guys,

Just wondering what your thoughts are between the 2013 and 2014 honda civic? I read that the 2014 had an issue with the CVT. I found 2 used cars both the same price. Which one would you choose? Any other options to consider? I am looking to spend around $15,000. Are the prices to high for these cars? If so, what is a fair value?

Thanks so much

What you want to find is a ex model..

2014 refresh included upgraded interior seating fabric and also a CTV. I own a 2015 ex and have put on about 60k with no issues. The cvt is Juddery at low speed but gets better fuel economy that the 5 speed. It had proven fairly reliable and I don’t think anyone has had reported failure on the civic forums. But I agree with the above comments go for a 14-15 ex for the small amount more you get a lot more for your money. Smart key, infotainment screen 16” wheels sunroof and push to start also you get the side view camera.

Did you have the recall done on the CVT? Did that solve the problem? I am just concerned it could lead to more problems with the car. Is your car automatic?

My car was not affected by the recall according to build date 08/15. I have had no issues with it AT ALL. The cvt operates much smoother than the automatic.
Honda CVT are fairly reliable and I don’t think that they are prone to failure. If you want to be extra cautions change the fluid every 50k.
