2019 Santa Fe vs 2019 Acura RDX

Looking for some opinions (pros/cons) on the 2019 Santa Fe Ultimate vs. 2019 Acura RDX Platinum Elite.

Price difference is around 14K more for the Acura including financing.

Thanks!

They are not even in the same segment...

Not sure what you’re asking.

Is the extra money worth it to get the Acura?
Reliability, future value, depreciation etc...

I would say go with the Acura too, but if you're just looking for something that's going to last you long, then also check out the 2019 Rav4 limited or the 2019 Crv touring. Either of these would be a better option than the Sante Fe but cost you less than the RDX Platinum Elite.

No to the CR-V what with the current 1.5T engine issues that can lead one to believe long term reliability will be suspect.

I had a 2007 Santa Fe and when it was time to upgrade I looked at both the new santa fe and the acura. I didn't see the value for the extra $14K. I got the Santa Fe and have had no issues with it. I also think it had more trunk space which was a bonus too.

$14K is a lot ... I say bank it and hope for the best that Santa Fe is a "bullet proof" SUV Smiling Face With Open Mouth

I’d buy a RAV4 and use the leftover money for a watch.

If you can think of somewhere else to use the extra $14k then go with Santa Fe, if not, RDX.

Both are new models introduced this year so long term reliability is unknown. Honda and Hyundai are having problems with reliability so there's that to consider. If you can, I would recommend that you wait. If you cannot, I would bank the $14k and go with the Hyundai.

I can't bear with this type of questions... A large 7 seater family mover vs small sporty CUV.

Next you will compare a Ford ranger SuperCrew because it is also in this price range.

I think your question is too generic. And it's hard to answer without diving deeper on what you are after.

Some people will appreciate the better AWD and interior material of RDX to justify the $14K, some won't.

Some people will appreciate the styling of one over the other, some won't.

It is hard to quantify if a car $14K more is better. Most of the time it is for sure, or sometime you are just buying a brand ($30K Civic vs $40K A3).

I think RDX is better because it's good bang for the buck in the luxury segment and SHAWD is one of the best in the biz. Dealership experience here is a crapshoot with either brand.

As for Sante Fe, I personally don't mind it. It has one of the best infotainment system in the biz but the Hyundai badge doesn't carry much weight, especially in light of the recent engine fire/recalls.

So do you care about the item listed above? If not, go buy a Hyundai. If you do care, pay more for a RDX.

This reminds me of the time I was trolling my friend who has a 3 series, and I got a decked out Elantra that had even more of the comfort and safety features for 15-20k savings. :P

I do love the Elantra though - it (can) have all the bells and whistles at a good price, but not terrible reliability. On top of that 0% financing! So yeah I would go for the Santa Fe .(I swear I don't work for them).
To be more analytical though, what's the opportunity cost of that 14k over the x years you'd own the car? Will you incur 14k difference in servicing/fixing the Santa Fe to make up the difference? I think you'd have to run the numbers.
