If they release an IS500 with an NA V8, it might just cause me to cancel my Tesla Model 3 order lol.

That won’t happen. No market for it, imo.

They already did a refresh of the Gen. 3 so is this actually going to be a Gen. 4 reveal?

Buy the 5-year replacement cost coverage and pray it gets stolen to get the next MY and the year after. Soon enough you can get a BEV.

Get 2021 C63. That will be the cheapest ticket to a V8 luxury sedan and its the last year for that model (W205)

Then MB will move C63 to a 4 banger + 200Hp electric motor(s).

Germans are downsizing quick due to emission fines. MB is on electrification path. And if AMG quits displacement, then this no chance for anyone else.

True, the 3rd gen Integra was from 94 to 01 so this IS will beat that.

The AMG's a tempting car, but really expensive and even more expensive out of warranty. The Lexus V8 and the IS platform has been around for so long that you know it's going to be reliable. I don't have a crystal ball, but it's the type of car that might be super rare and cool in 15 years and might even hold some of its value.

12 years in you can both get a 5.5L AMG C63 and 5L Lexus IS-F for roughly the same price, high teens to low 20s.

I won't hold your breath of it being collectible.

Even the C63 Black Series lost like 30% in 8 years and it's the most collectible of the bunch.

It's really hard to gauge collectibles but as people with money and want to relive their youths are now my age wanting to relive 90s, 90s Japanese exotics may hold a bit in price. S2K and NSX never drop much. With each decade passed the 90s, there are less and less people who cares and less and less cars that stands out as collectibles. Everything has watered down and become more affordable and common place. Again, may be I'm bias due to age.

It’s expected that the 2021 IS will be a heavily refreshed version of the existing sedan, with Motor Trend reporting an exterior refresh alongside an upgraded chassis and a more luxurious interior. Powertrain options would remain unchanged.
I hope they atleast put the updated camry/es350 v6 in the IS
