Most people report the dealerships being unwilling to negotiate on price, so paying MSRP seems the same as most are getting. We were able to get ours under MSRP, however it was from a salesperson we had purchase a car through previously. The LE FWD is the least desirable model, so we were told. However, at this point I assume they are still in high demand (especially as gas prices are climbing).

You paid sticker price for something, do you think that's a good deal?

I just noticed the protection package! I will clarify with them tomorrow on the phone. We were not even informed verbally about what that was or what’s included in the protection package for $499

This was in Clarington Toyota, they are only selling to Durham region residents now.

Ok, what would have been a good deal here? Or have you lately heard of anyone getting a better with current stock situation?

Yes, paying MSRP in this environment is the norm.
No dealership will accept anything lower.
The usual case of supply and demand.

Congratulations on your purchase Ameliaski

Well, maybe no Toyota dealership is accepting anything else, but a few Hyundai ones are for a potential purchase I may make

It is not a good or a bad deal. Everyone is getting the same deal just like buying something at the grocery store for the listed price. I do see there is $0 admin fee and $499 protection package that you don't know about. Perhaps they put the admin under the wrong line? With the short supply, I expect dealers to keep the admin fee instead of waving.
Just be aware that they may not end up delivering in 2 months. If you open the larger sienna thread, people have been waiting for over half a year for theirs with no ETA.

I just asked and they said “ Yes that is tire time and key fob protection for 3 years. Tires and rims if you need to repair or you blow a tire we replace free of charge up to $800 for tires and rims and if you lose a key fob you have up to 2 key fob replacement same 3 years or 60,000 kms warranty we have that program on all our vehicles instead of an administration fee.”

I find this fishy because they never mentioned this to me and now when I ask they say the above. My question is - is this optional? Does anyone know? And should there be these ‘admin’ fees for a cash purchase?

Interesting, were they actually promised sooner dates to get the sale and then kept in a limbo? I would like to see this thread.

The sales person just told me the prot package isn’t optional and I would have to take it regardless of other warranties included.

He also said:

“Manufacturers warranty doesn’t cover blown or repairable tires if you happen to lose 1 key fob to replace it that is $590 plus HST. Most dealerships charge an admin fee you are getting value in the event you damage or blow a tire.“

The protection package is mandatory and you have to pay what they ask for it... LOL

Truly a disgusting time to buy a new vehicle.

It's a dealer add-on, so of course it's optional. You can fight them on it, but they might just sell the van to someone else considering the shortage of cars (especially hybrids).

Although, no admin fee, which would normally be around the same $499. So it works out at about what I'd expect.

There's not much point asking if it is a good deal or a bad deal. The deal is already done.

$500 wasted, but if that's the best deal they offered you, congrats.

BTW, wasn't it 35k msrp to start? Or did they increase it by 6k for the 22 model?
