[Amazon.ca] 3TB WD Passport external hard drive $100

Was just searching for 3TB WD Passport hard drives on Amazon and the blue version is going for $99.99 right now (9pm PST June 29). Lowest price I've ever seen them.

the newegg/ebay coupon sales recently had better prices. Mostly tho for the seagate which isn't a frankenstien drive. I paid 100 all in for a 4tb portable during the 25 off a 100 [email protected] newegg.

I just got a 4TB drive for $99 albeit different. I'm not picky and I'll take the extra 1TB for the same price.

Seagate @ Best Buy but as mentioned it's not WD, it's external but not exactly portable or fancy. However for 4TB this is as good as I've seen lately and I've been looking.

How is that even possible? Are they known to fail that much? Or yours get knocked around quite a bit?

These ones are soldered in, so its hard to take them out if the usb/connection fails.

no clue, bad batch maybe.

i store mine in a safe in 3 different houses. they're my babies, so they're not banged around at all.

I just find it odd how I hear of so many failure rates

I’m going to be getting all new drives soon but most of mine are WD, internal and 3+ years old, one being 6 and have never had issues. I had one drive die (seagate) but the only other one I had die on me is a Maxtor (when 500gb was a ton of space).

But I guess bad batches do happen.

(And yes I backup everything to an external WD drive)
