[Princess Auto] 4 x 3 ft x 3/4 in. Heavy Duty Non-Skid Utility Mat $32.99 (Mar. 2-14)

Flyer says March 2 to 14, but online it says it should be available today, February 28.

Might be good for anyone that has a home gym or wants to put the Echelon or any other equipment overtop of the mat.

For people who are looking at this for fitness equipment, make sure you check the length as this is just 4 feet. You might need to get 2 of them if your fitness equipment is longer than 4 feet.

As an alternative, I picked this up from Amazon which is great for my laminate flooring and my rowing machine (7 feet long): https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0012MEZKG. It is not as thick as the Princess Auto one but the advantage would be that your fitness equipment may not slide when you are doing your workout. This also folds so you can adjust the length to as you see fit.

Very nice. Shipping is expensive though.
Doesn't seem to be in stock at any Princess Auto stores nearby me.

*edit*

Confirmed! Once you proceed further through checkout they apply the shipping credit at that point. Great deal! And yes sold out in store across the GTA with the odd 1 available, which is likely phantom stock.

Are these sufficient to put on the ground to absorb 80-90lb dumbbells dropped from about 4-5 inches on a ground-level tile-floor?

I bought two of these and they work great for gym flooring. They are heavy, but very thick and sturdy. No problem dropping weights on them and they stay put. The top has a button like texture, and I flipped this over to utilize the flat bottom.

The smell is pretty strong, but after a week and a half starting to go away.

These are standard "button" style Horse Stall mats (4' x 6'), but cut in half to (4' x 3'). The button side is supposed to be the bottom, as they create little air pockets that provide some cushion when weight is applied on top.
These mats were originally intended for use in well ventilated areas (like a horse stall). The strong smell is the mat releasing VOC gas, which may be harmful for your health. If you are using indoors, it is advisable to first air these mats outside in the strong summer sun, as sunlight helps release the VOC gasses.

Just bought two as well, thanks OP. I needed them for my home gym I'll be making in a month or so! Thank you multimut for the airing our advice as well!

I assume these can be used outdoors? I covered my porch is epoxy and it has been slippery all winter, so want to lay this down from steps to door.

These are OOS in my area and online.
if you don't ask, the answer is always NO!
