407ETR - Covid help- First Transponder lease Free for the Year- Only Charge for second $9.95-

Retailer:
407ETR
Not much of a savings but might be use for some.
Was on a monthly transponder subscription, as wanted to try it out and then Covid happened.
Called to freeze account, was suggested to convert to yearly rate of $24.95 for first transponder and $9.95 next. .
But, asked if I can just freeze it or the process to return. Was finally offered ; $0 yearly for first transponder and 9.95 for the second one. = so $9.95 for two transponders for 12 months.
Also, for May, they are not charging anyone Transponder fees. Only for May as per the agent.

*IMHO, it (the transponder fees) should be free for anyone using their services right now, but they rarely give discounts and only target offers for some lucky ones who got flat rate monthly usage.

Lease fees suspended for May:

We recognize that the value in leasing a transponder may be temporarily lost for many of the 1.5 million active transponders in circulation. Transponder lease fees will not be charged on May bills, whether you are on a monthly or annual lease. Annual transponder lease fees that are due for renewal in May 2020 will receive an additional month at no-charge and their renewal notice will be pushed to June, 2020.

Is it worth it for a partial part time 407 driver? I try to avoid the 407 because of the high rates. Usually from Vaughn to milton it costs nearly 30.00

They should just make the 407 free for a little while.

The 407 is a bloodsucking entity. It is too expensive and they’re doing this because business has been terrible.

Canadian Pension Plan partly owns the 407... we'd all be screwed if that happened.

But the 401 is like the 407 right now! FREE, empty and free flowing.

Don't know why any RFDers would go on the 407!

Lol, absolute peanuts compared to the billions they make with they're atrocious fees... 50 plus cents a kilometer? What a joke

Traffic has picked up slightly recently but it's still not what it once was. If 407 wants people back on its highway, cut the rates in half... I bet you'd entice a lot of people like that, even if traffic still isn't bad right now

Lol yep. Sold our public 407 highway to a private company on a 100 year lease for peanuts. Nothing screams corruption and bribery like this does.

And we've lost ten times more in profit than we made on the original sale. All in the name of "balancing the budget". Conservatives are morons. Oh well, only 80 more years to go. Though by that time, roads might be useless.

I pay annually and I called them to see if I can cancel because I haven’t used it for almost a year. They gave my annual fee back as a credit and told me to keep it for another year.

Just for you, if I ever end up traveling in GTA with my out of province plates, I will use 407 every day I'm in the city just in spite and not pay a dime.
