5w30 in a 5w20 vehicle

5w30 in a 5w20 vehicle

Had a mechanic do an oil change and accidentally gave him 5L of 5w20 and 1L of 5W30 to put into the vehicle.

He realized after and said it doesn't matter but I'd like to get a consensus on if I should do another oil change.

So 5L is 5w20 and 1L is 5w30? Are they the same brand/product? If its the same brand I'd probably just ignore it and do my next oil change early. If I was still under warranty I'd probably correct it though, but I'm also a bit obsessive with my vehicle.

Thanks for the response, yeah both are Pennzoil brand and product.

5w20 is mainly to achieve CAFE numbers.
You're good to go until the next oil change.

Car engines are compatible with different grade of engine oil. For example nissan 4 cylinder calls for 5w-20 but dealer puts in 5w-30 because your owners manual says it's aokay.

Check your owners manual. Most likely you can put 5w-30 and now you ended up having 5w-22

Yes OP its fine espcially they are both 5w which is for the colder weather.

I would rather the 5W30, provided there are no other specialty specs it has to meet, that the 5W30 used didn't meet.

Patent your formula and call it 5w25.

If it's a Hemi you may want to have it changed, the MDS can act up with 5W30.
