7x5 Bathroom Setup?

Hi,

Just want some pointers on how i should set up the 3 piece bathroom? For simplicity sake would i just follow the 7" long wall and put the 3 piece beside each other or would i go for a corner shower to possibly save room?

Pic below is a 7x5 room (7.1" x 4.8" to be exact) - Do i just follow their layout?

Thank you!

Put you tub in. Leave 18 inches for your toilet and get a smaller reduced depth vanity (a hanging unit is nice since it creates a feeling of more space - don't do a pedestal sink as there is no storage) to fit whatever width is left. A corner shower is a waste since you will not have a tub.

I'm thinking of doing a standing shower the size of a traditional bath tub with a glass pane and glass door, i think this would look nicer than a corner shower correct?

Especially if you do a linear drain(no curb), I think that might look the best. Do a floating vanity as well.

This is a good idea as long as you have at least one other bathroom with a tub.
Use a minimalist door hardware so it does not look overbearing in the small room.

Yes. You may not need one for your current situation but if you don't have at least one tub in the place when you (eventually) sell you limit who will buy your place.

When space is tight, a wall-mounted toilet makes cleaning a lot easier.

I second floating vanity also.

The toilet needs 30" of clearance - 15" from the centre line of the toilet to the next obstruction. I think a tub is OK because it is lower than the toilet seat but don't quote me on that.

To a vanity, you need 15" to the centre of the toilet.

I have a tiny 3 piece bathroom in my basement. I put a corner shower in and a tiny marble console leg vanity. More like 7 x 4' 2" I think in size.

The location of the door plays a large part in the layout. Chances are you have no real choice in the position of things, if you want a tub/shower in there.

If the room is 5 feet wide and 7 feet deep with the door on the 5 foot wall, then it's vanity, toilet, tub as you walk in the door. You could swap the vanity and toilet if you like and have the sink between the toilet and tub. Just be wary of the 30" you need between the wall and the vanity if you do that.

My room is 7 feet wide and 4' 2" feet deep with the door in the middle of the 7 foot wall. So there is a 36" corner shower to the left of the door as you walk in, and the sink/toilet to the right. 30" for the toilet, 20 inches for the sink.

I would have done a custom full-width shower, but the clean-out access for the main drain line is in the corner so I needed reasonable access to it just in case.

The fan (Panasonic - only way to go) is directly over the shower and rated for in-shower use. I have recessed lighting on one dimmer, and a single sconce on another dimmer for lighting choices. Recessed medicine cabinet/mirror over the sink.

It's my wife's bathroom and services guests if they come and stay in our basement suite.

Put radiant floor heating in - it's awesome and cheap for a small room. I used Nuheat cables, not mats.

The shower curtain was temporary - frameless glass enclosure on the cultured marble (solid white) shower base and walls.
