$999 ASUS ZenBook 14 Ultrabook AMD Ryzen 7 4700U 16GB LPDDR4 512GB PCIe SSD GeForce MX350 2GB

Price:
999
Savings:
$200
Looks like deal is back, previous deal at CC was quickly sold out, maybe a promo from Asus or all the retailers are price matching each others lol
That's a lot of laptop for the price, compact (17mm) and lightweight (1.15KG), 100% sRGB LCD claimed, aluminum body, WIFI 6, MIL-STD-810G "military grade", IR enabled Hello camera

The touchpad also doubles as a num pad, english keyboard but it's a shorter backspace to make room for home, pg up/dn, end.

Costco.ca still $1200, Edit: Now also same pric, Edit 2: Now completly gone, Edit 3: Back in stock at Costco, this time DS71 and $12 more

Very thorough post OP, gj.
The I/O looks decent for what you see these days. Does anyone know how the MX350 compares? I'm not familiar with this GPU.

Man these new Ryzen laptops are unparalleled price:performance, but a bummer that it tends to also mess with the versatility we were used to with USB-C. Video/PD through USB-C would make this a perfect laptop at this price!

this is what stopped me last time as well. but been having issues with my XPS lately so this is extremely tempting now.

This is a great price, was going to get this laptop last time it was on sale but it was out of stock everywhere. Ended up getting the zephyrus g14 but this laptop is awesome.

Better to get it from Costco for the 2 year warranty.

Ok, so I got it and compared with the Lenovo Flex 5 from Costco and honestly it isnt that great.

The fan is in the front and blows on the screen and noticed the screen did get pretty warm so I dont know if in the long run that will be a problem.

The backlit keyboard is useless and actually makes it harder to read the keybord as each letter itself lights up and not the keyboard piece under like usually.

The digital numerpad on the trackpad worked maybe 1/5 times and seemed useless.

The face reader barely worked too.

The only positives I saw over the Lenovo were that it was lightweight and had an aluminum body.

I ended up returning it and kept the Lenovo because it had 2 in 1 and seemed to just be a better fit overall.

Yes that is true but different use case, I guess. Over all Lenovo is better. However the screen on this has 92% colour accuracy according to review compared to 60 plus percent on Lenovo so its still better for light photo and video editor.

Bought a Lenovo Flex 14 last year and its a great laptop. Will try this one.

Interested if they have this @ Costco warehouse, if anyone is going today please kindly advise.

BTW I hate that they made the keyboard same colour as the casing, well what can you do.... Have to live with it I guess.

Here are my quick thoughts on this laptop from Reddit with some revisions:

I bought my Zenbook 14 from from Walmart and after Asus updates and Windows 10 updates...

- No issues with fans spinning up and not slowing down so I think it's been fixed.
- Screen is great compared to the current Lenovo Flex 5 (I have last year's Flex 5 2in1 with the 3700U which I've recently sold).
- The Zenbook is also quite a bit lighter than my Flex 5 but aside from processor, they are different beasts for different needs for about the same price point.
- Running Time Spy, approximately 30% faster overall with MX350 vs Ryzen APU.
- The track pad is responsive and nice.
- Battery life is a huge improvement over last year's Flex 5 but that's generally true of all laptops with these 4000 Ryzens

- Yes, the keys are hard to read but typing on it is good. I actually prefer the typing feel on the Flex 5 which is excellent in my books.
- One issue I had (more then once) was after manually putting the Asus to sleep, I got back in but the keyboard wasn't responding. The mouse was which allowed me to reboot. I'm not sure if it was a bug or I if locked out the keyboard somehow because I can't seem to replicate the issue.

Overall, it's a keeper for me. Nice build quality, powerful, lightweight and better screen than any of it's competition in the $1,000 price bracket. This Asus is overspec for the type of work that I do but for travel (once we can, lol) this will be great for the minor video editing that I like to do.

Anyone have experience with the Zenbook and Lenovo Yoga's? Trying to decide between the two which would be the more... satisfying(?) purchase?
