What a pathetic joke that they couldn't manage to release an Android app at the same time. It's not like this was a surprise to anyone. Mobile OS share is 55% vs 45%.

Rather pathetic.

Are you sure it's not the verification app your talking about?

That's different than what is used to present your QR code and the government's future plans.

I ended up making a. ' loyalty' card on Google Pay as a workaround

Hmm, wouldn’t work on my One Plus 6. Any specific loyalty card? Just won’t do anything when I attempt to scan the QR code. Tried scanning from other phone, tablet and laptop. But scans fine with the Vaccine Ontario app.

I personally used the Canada Post one. Haven't had to try it out in the wild yet, but it does display my QR code.

Not sure if I like this better or if I'll just take a crop of my QR download and make a shortcut on my homescreen.

Easy with iPhone. Just scan the QR code off the govt site and it autosaves certs and QR code to Apple Health. Takes like 3 seconds. Must have ios 15.

I just put the PDF on my Android phone homescreen. I can open it and expand the QR code to fill the screen for scanning, which is not as convenient as having an app display it. I haven't needed to show it yet, but the whole certificate is there if someone needs to see it.

3rd shot, booster shot is coming soon. Govt is going thru the same cycle as with 1st and 2nd doses. Medical conditions first, then seniors, then rest of population by age groups. Will have to update QR code/download at that time.

Ya that automated queue system has been around for awhile
I first saw it when I booked my 2nd Shot with Ontario Public Health (same website)
I like it a lot … waiting for the little man to walk across the screen
Is so much better than just watching a circle go round on the screen without any indication of how long you have to wait … which happens on so many other websites when you wait in line to buy things (like tickets to games / events )

Lol when I went to download my QR Code this weekend (as per this thread topic)
It was after midnight … and the system wasn’t busy at all (READ … 2 minute wait )
I tell you that little man RAN across my screen !

PS … your number in line … in this case # 5042655 … means nothing
It’s just how many folks have logged onto Ontario Public Health since they added this feature a few months back
Makes sense our house alone (2 people) we’ve probably been on a dozen times or more when you consider Booking Shots - Changing Appointments - Downloading various versions of our Vaccine Certificates
And 16,164 users ahead of you waiting
Means noting either
System can handle oodles of people at once
16,164 / 11 Minutes = at least 1000 can be accommodated per minute

For others who want to do this. Upload pdf to google Drive. Once in drive, option to add to home screen

Does anyone know how to resize this to credit card size without ruining the QR code? I don't have a cell phone.
Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Another option with ios 15 is to create a 'FILES' widget on the home screen. Then you are one click away on your iphone to view the QR code. Save the QR code PDF to a file folder on the iphone first.

More my style.
I've been a little baffled why people are making something simple so complex.
I just stored the pdf in phone storage (SDcard actually) and created a home screen shortcut.
The phone already has the ability to view a pdf.
- No extra apps
- no "wallet"
- no cloud

I installed the app to verify my printed copy.
No problem at original size, but I could not verify when printed at 50%.
I'd suggest if you are resizing, laminating, etc. to verify it it still readable.
I think there was language to that effect on the download website, but probably glossed over by most.

This is what I've been doing. I hope we're not forced to use an app. With all the security issues I don't want my personal information contained in one.

Edit: the pdf I received from PH doesn't have a QRcode. Hope that won't be a problem. Where do I get a version with the qrcode?

Apparently in iOS 15.1 you can add it as a card in apple wallet, which is really convenient if you're an iOS user. For now I just saved the pdf to my files and will zoom in if needed.

If you're using it to travel I'd suggest a printed copy, unless you want to hand a border agent your unlocked phone.
