hey everyone, had an AC put in this summer with new humidifier as well, i noiticed this valve is in the OFF position, my hunch is that when the furnace is on in the winter, this should be in the ON position.

in the picture the furnace is on the left and cold are is on the right.

thanks everyone

During the furnace heating season, you'll want air flow through that valve, so yes you'll want to open the valve in the fall and turn if off during the spring.

Correct, in the winter you want to add more humidity to the air coming out of the furnace so you would open that (also make sure the humidifier is turned on at its switch/thermostat)
Also the filter inside should be checked and possibly replaced every year depending on how dirty it is (check both sides of the humidity filter)
