RFD lately has been slow. It's not just you, it's not Acanac, It's not Rogers, it's not bell.

Just go to google or any other website that doesnt have a high traffic load 90% of the time and base your results there. Or do a traceroute to certain websites via command line

you have to buy them.. try to unplug all the phones/fax and reset your modem to see if it helps. i had interference with one of my phones because i didn't put DSL filters. upload rate jumped from 256kbps to 700kbps instantly after

There should be none on a dry loop.
If there is noise from interference with other equipment
on the same phone line: buzzer, alarm, voip ata, router,
cordless phone, a pots splitter is recommended
to separate the signals.

Is speedtesting using burst? I can't understand how you're getting 26Mbit down without it.

Update:

Last week the tech came over and checked the line and convinced me that the line is not the problem.

I have been trying the internet for the last couple of days and here is what I have found:

He used his own modem and got around 4200 Mbps, I tried with mine and received 2500 Mbps. I am satisfied for the time being. I hope in the future I can fix the modem to get faster speeds but for now I am not complaining.

I also disabled Kaspersky Internet Security (which was responsible for the 26 Mbps error speed).

Occasionally my torrents get slow in the evening, I am assuming this is bell's throttling, is there an easy way to get around this? (Edit: yesterday I enabled encryption on utorrent and my download speeds were ~450KB/s last night).

As for tech support after calling tech support for about 3 times on this whole issue I did NOT find tech support at Acanac to be a problem.

As for a speed test, I am current downloading at ~460 KB/s on utorrent. that is ~3700 Mbps.

3700mbps?

Woah.

I hope you mean kbps.. 450 KB/s is 3.5mbps.

But do NOT use torrents as a basis for internet speed. Download something (large) from Microsoft (direct HTTP fileserver) where it utilizes 100% of your down speed.

with 5mbps from Acanac, you should theoretically be downloading at a max of ~640KB/s
