Access Mac Hard Drive

Hello All,

So my friend is buying a Windows 10 laptop and currently has a external HDD that was created/used on a Mac laptop. I suspect its in a mac file format and may not be able to be read on windows 10 with our special software.

Was wondering if anybody knows of any good free software that I will be able to transfer these files over from the Mac HDD so I can then format it so it will work on a Windows PC?
