Hi there,

The original thread has been marked as expired; but this sale/promo is still going on. (Hopefully, they can just restore/merge the previous thread).

They have extended the free promo for acdsee video studio 3 to May 20 (they might even extend after that).

https://www.acdsee.com/en/download-our- ... -for-free/

Full disclosure => I have NO financial conflicts or associations with the company, nor have I received pay from the developer. I did claim the software for free though.

I was SUPER impressed when we downloaded this program for our 11 year old child to work on a school video. This is the 2nd video project that he's done with it since the freebie promo came out (first project used acdsee video 3; today's project, we used a trial of video 4). The results were VERY impressive with transitions, split clips, cut scenes, freeze frame, background music, captions, audio overdub all being done by the kid himself. Full disclosure though, this wasn't the first software he's used and he has done projects using iMovie before but he tells me he liked this software more.

I have adobe premiere as well as iMovie (mac) but this program really impressed me with the ease of use combined with the extra features that windows movie maker doesn't have. Premiere is great and I recommend it if you have the time to learn. BUT it also has so many options that a) it can be overwhelming and b) it's severe overkill for just throwing together a video for grade 5. Footage was shot using an old iphone 6s. Final output was an export into mp4 format at 1080p. Fast and easy with the acdsee product.

They are (of course) trying to entice you to upgrade to Video 4; their newer version; but even if you stayed with video 3; you'd have enough to get you started.

Personally, after trying video 3; I have downloaded the video 4 trial and I will be upgrading to it.

Anyways, it's good to see small indie developers putting out good product; download this if you wish to try it out. The main advantage is simplicity to polished project ratio.

(alternatives Hitfilm, iMovie, windows movie maker, Adobe premiere... I'm sure there are more but those are the other products I own / have used before).

I totally agree with op. This is a good product. I have got my free license from the previous thread and extremely happy with it. Very easy to use with excellent features set.

I also got this in the last round. Been needing to learn video editing for my sons YouTube. Thanks for all the positive reviews. This sounds like a great place to start.

This is actually as good as Adobe premiere? That's high praise.

I don’t think that’s what OP is saying. If you have the time to learn Premiere then that is the superior software. But for most people, it sounds like ACDSee will do the trick.

Thank you cooper83. Also, I think radeonboy was just making an ironic comment. No offense taken ;)

No question that Adobe Premiere is a fantastic product. It can do everything I can imagine (and more).
Acdsee Video does NOT match up to premiere in terms of features or power.

HOWEVER, for a child or a novice; the lack of options may be preferable. It is easier to learn and use than premiere.

It allows you get up and running and producing quickly. The skills learned will transfer to any other product if/when they need to move up.

Thank you! Noticed it is valid till May 20, so downloaded and activated last night. It works and can combine screen recording with webcam and adding music/voice, ... quite a lot feature, although it is one version older than the current v4, maybe that's why free now.

I installed this software and as soon as I open it it causes my Windows 10 task bar to continually flicker. When I restarted it crashed system and gave “Kernel trap mode” error. Finally I managed to restart and remove software and now everything is fine. Looks like software is not updated for while or buggy.

I got this the last time this was posted and have used it quite a lot. It's very good for very basic video editing whiich is all I need 90% of the time.
Basil: Well, may I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically -?

ACDSee Video Studio 3 works fine for me, and I think it's a worthwhile simple video editor. Note the requirement that a 64-bit system is required for Win10. I also agree that Hitfilm Express is a good step up in capability, still free.

I noticed the same thing. The task bar goes absolutely nuts. I'm going to email their support to see if there's a fix.
I got kicked out of Chapters because I moved all the Bibles to the fiction section.

I've used iMovie years ago and found it pretty easy to use. If this is as easy but for Windows, then I'm in. Thanks OP.
c'mon get happy!

It did not work for me as well. I guess because it is for 64 bit systems. In their email, there was no link for 32 bit Windows.
