Acura MDX (2023)

I had asked in another thread about resale, etc. & initiating this specifically to see if any one out here owning Acura MDX as test drove 2022 MDX and impressed overall. Of course 3rd row seating cannot be compared with any other SUVs as cramped & i am aware of it. Other than that, I found no comparison to Hyundai palaside or any other SUVs as this feels more of luxury.
Much helpful if some can share some personal experiences/feedback about buying Acura MDX. Test drove a 2022 model but they are taking orders for 2023
Honestly, we pay little more just for Interior/luxury but interior blows away.

thanks in advance

I have a 2022 A-Spec and I’m very happy with it. I’d recommend it. I also felt that the driving dynamics blew the palisade, telluride, Highlander, etc out of the water. It was worth the modest premium in my mind.

My fuel economy is a lot worse than advertised in the city. The third row is also cramped as you’ve outlined, but manageable for those average height or shorter.

Thanks for quick comment. Yes, I also test drove A Spec but thinking to spend extra $$$ for Platinum as it comes with rear heated seats & vents. I think A Spec does not come with that Right? May be i am wrong?
Do you also feel 2nd row comfortable or any complaints?
And, display one is not touch which I think challenging. Or you ve got used to it?

Drove a platinum, honestly drove so bad, I went to Genesis and GV80 instead

Maybe the demo wasn’t good, but stability was horrible- felt like it needed to be more refined

Love my GV80 - but good luck with whatever you go with

(Personally would get mdx type-s if i was getting)

Main thing bothers me is no touch in Infotainment screen and not sure how easy to get used to it

The A-Spec has heated seats and vents in the second row. If you are going to use the third row a ton and want vents back there for that, perhaps look at a vehicle with a larger third row.

The touchpad is fine - I don’t love it but don’t hate it. It’s not a big enough issue that would have changed my mind on buying the car.

If I was in this market, I would definitely consider the GV80, Aviator, or XC90 over the MDX. As good as the MDX is (and it is good), it just is no longer the class-leader it once was. We are all different though and if the MDX floats your boat, I suspect that it will serve you well.

Isn't the GV80 priced higher than MDX similar spec?
Are GV80 and Lincoln reliable compared to Acura?

I would say that price and reliability are within shooting distance of each other. Things can and will go wrong in any of these but problems are usually minor, covered by the warranty, or more of an issue as the vehicles get above 160k kms.

FWIW, the Genesis warranty is impeccable - 5 years/100k kms covering everything and scheduled maintenance is included. Lincoln has a 6 year / 110k km powertrain warranty as well (vs Acura's 5/100 "major components" coverage). If you really like the MDX, go for it but - if it was me - I would seriously consider the competition and not restrict my choices out of fears about "reliability".

This unbiased site says that the MDX is better than the Genesis so who am I?

I think the GV80 third row is even smaller than the MDX’s. Something to consider if you plan on using it. I believe it costs more as well.

I didn’t consider the aviator as I think it’ll depreciate harder and have worse reliability than the MDX.

Problem with Lincoln's has to be the high depreciation value after the first few years. Quality is mediocre at best.

Infotainment (without touch) is currently my ONLY blocker for this car as I am ok with small 3rd row. Do you think its not a difficult task to get used to it eventually?

If you can use a mouse touchpad without issues, I think you will get used to it just fine.

I find I don't use it that much - usually I set Google maps directions up before I start driving, and I often use Siri to select music.

I would go for Highlander hybrid just because of the fuel economy.

I test drove an A spec with Running board in it & when I asked dealer, he says we need to pay extra $1400 for it and does not come with A spec. Just curious to know if you bought it or not needed?
Also what are the accessories you recommend for a spec?

Don’t get me wrong I’m a huge Honda/Acura fan, but the current generation MDX is priced a little excessively. The average selling price is probably $65k. Ten years ago Honda Canada had to clear them out at $45k. Yes it’s a better car now, but it’s not 46% better.

At $65k the value doesn’t seem like it’s there? I’d pony up the extra $10-20k for the BMW, Audi, or Genesis.
