I truly believe the Internet and more specifically social media is having a huge impact on a lot of people...what do you think and how do we fix it or can we fix it?

Isn't the first step to fixing an addiction is to admit u have one?

People love to gossip. FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc., allows people to creep into others' lives, so they can gossip about it. You like someone? Creep them. You hate someone? Creep them. And then, of course, there's the government, creeping on everyone.

Sadly, I think it's here to stay, like TV for the past generations.

Nonsense I say. Have the Facebook feed beamed directly to my hypothalamic implant. I can then be outraged and angry all the time, minus the middleman.

Whats the impact ? errr...

- Don't know how to even write anymore
- Don't how to communicate face to face
- Very bad at articulating or getting their points across
- Thinks their smartphone is their best friend
- Gets angry and frustrated if no one texts them back, thinks its popularity contest

Hardly the same thing.

People are very influenced by herd instinct. They spend beyond their means thinking that they are missing out because they are manipulated by Instagrammers who don't disclose that they are paid to post in many cases. It's unfortunate but there are a lot of people who can't "think" for themselves and can't control their impulses.

Bell invented the "telephone" precisely 130 years ago and today we are texting ...see anything wrong with this picture ?
I see texting in the same light as Indians sending "smoke signals" ! ...LoL

It's a way for extroverts to feel even more out there and for introverts to feel more invaded.

You can sort of tell who is extroverted and who is introverted and who is somewhere in the middle.

It's a little amplified online.

Hey that's what I do. Even if I get text from my buddies I wait a while before responding back. I don't respond right away unless it's some kind of emergency.

3 posts in this thread alone over a span of 3 hours. Your average is clearly trending upwards. Haha.
