Advice re using phone as GPS in BC

What is the best way to avoid a ticket?Phone securely mounted? Where to place without obstructing windshield?

Phone in console cupholder while listening to talking guide ok?

Ontario seems less strict
The problem isn't necessarily mounting or obstructing the windshield but that it's a phone and it's out in the open. Drivers have been ticketed for having the phone visible in the passenger compartment (ie sitting on the passenger seat). One person was ticketed for that even though the phone was broken.

Not okay according to this...
...drivers are only allowed to use their phone as a global positioning system, if it is mounted to the vehicle using a cellphone holder and if the device is transmitting any audible commands through the vehicle's speakers or a Bluetooth audio device.
