Advise me of Cheaper repair for Transmission

Definitely would grab a used tranny and have that put in.

They told me just to teardown the transmission will cost $2,200. Of course there will be additional charges to actually repair the thing.

Can any of you advise me where else (possibly specific spots) I can go to get it done for cheaper and still get quality work. This is not covered by warranty or insurance.
