Looks a good deal if you want to use Aeroplan points for gift card. The conversion rate for other gift cards is usually 7000 points for $50.

Using Aeroplan for a gift card at 1 cent per mile/point is very poor value.

2.5 cents per Aeroplan point is the minimum amount I aim for in redemptions. Generally best deals for economy flights for Aeroplan point redemptions is flights to west coast of Canada, USA and hawaii. Overall value, business class flights to Asia is pretty consistent as best value.

For someone like me that would rather liquidate points than take 5+ years to spend them all on flights this is a great offer for me. Thanks OP

OP, please add the word REDEEM to the title.
For some reason, I thought it was a points earning offer.

How can some of you compare redeeming flights to redeeming for gift cards? There's many reasons why some people might want gift cards over flights. Also, this is a deal because it's usually way more expensive to redeem gift cards. I feel a minority of people are ruining the RFD experience but I guess it can't really be prevented. The unwarranted downvotes are turning other people off from posting other great deals.

While I get your point, it really comes down to being a terrible redemption value for Aeroplan points to redeem for a $200 LCBO gift card instead of a $400-500 flight.

If people want to redeem for gift cards that’s fine, but I’d probably ask why they’re using an airline program credit card instead of a more suited cashback or point card that better fits their needs.

Plans might have changed, etc. But unless the points are burning a hole in your pocket, I don't see any upside to redeeming for such low value now. At least wait for better promos than 1cpp.

Definitely agree that valiue is in flights, I just think that this argument is out of the scope of this thread. I personally never had great luck redeeming for flights, choice was always very limited compared to standard tickets and sometimes taxes and fees are so high that it's really not so worthwhile, but maybe I'm doing it wrong.

The real sweet spot is situations where the economy ticket is like 35k but the business is like 60k. Or if you have eupgrades and go Latitude. But there's just so many factors like where you live, where you're trying to go, when you're booking, etc.

I don't even look at upvotes and downvotes. To me they mean nothing.

With the many recent flight deals (i.e $165 return from Toronto to Vancouver), I do sometimes question why the need to collect flight points.

As others have suggested, go with cash back rewards instead.

Many people dont put any value on flights or its all covered by work so trading them for cash makes the most sense.

Overall cash in pocket from exchanging travel points like this is still higher than most cash back credit cards.
