After 10 years, goodbye 1password :(

The "old" 1password, the one without subscription you could use since forever, stoped working yesterday.
Disappointed But Relieved Face

To be precise, Chrome 99 signature change and the chrome 1password's extension can't authentifiante the browser, so no autofill anymore, which kinda render the app useless. (the app still works and you can copy-paste your passwords, but I'm already tired of doing that after <24h).

I knew that date was coming, but here we are.
On the fence on paying (1P offer 50% off for 3 years), or using bitwarden, which I'm already using at my job.
It gets the job done, but way less polish than 1p, and more cumbersome to use daily.

I remember switching from a PalmPilot password keeper to 1Password a long time ago. I switched to their subscription plan a while ago because it's the one paid program I use every day.

I get that it a program we use daily so it might worth paying for,
but why paying monthly before today since it was working perfectly until yesterday?

I too was choked about 1Password moving from a perpetual license to an annual subscription. But since it's a program I use literally all the time and find it good value, I went with it. American Express just paid my second and third year so I'm quite happy with that.

Too expensive for what it is, made by people who believe they know what is best for everyone. You cannot shorten the time to automatically clear the clipboard on iOS; multiple apps can read your password during the 90 seconds it takes. If you are the organizer of a family subscription, you can permanently delete another user's all data without any warning, and they try to justify this with their ridiculous responses for years. Many more issues. Switch to Bitwarden or KeePass.

ios yes,
Chrome 99 signature change and the chrome 1password's extension can't authentifiante the browser, so no autofill anymore, which kinda render the app useless. (probably only on computer)

+1 for Bitwarden.

If you have AMEX card you can try getting the $70 credit towards a one year family plan subscription. I recently switched from MYKI as I had been using it since moving from 1Password 4. MYKI recently got sold so decided to switch back to 1Password and take advantage of the almost free 1 year promotion. Will decide whether to keep using 1P or look for another solution once my year is up.

I did try Bitwarden but 1Password does feel much more polished.

Bitwarden is excellent.

Sorry 1password, but paying a monthly subscription to help pay for your Toronto offices and employees is not my problem. It's still unfair to saddle a captive client base with this kind of bait and switch.

If you are in Apple eco-System, the use of KeyChain should make more sense as it will automatically sync with different Apple products. Even Samsung account can handle password management as well.

But it doesn’t always auto fill and after find your password to copy paste it is close to impossible.

Some sites haves 3 fields(ex : company id, user, pass) and keychain doesn’t work well with them.

You can’t write note down note (Ex: your security questions)

1pas is much better for credit card management.

++i for BitWarden.

When LastPass tried a money grab last year and pissed me off, the migration to BitWarden took me maybe 10 minutes start to finish. Couldn't have been easier. So check if they also handle 1Password.

BitWarden is FOSS for unlimited, all platforms, use. If you need any of the optional Premium features, or like me, just want to show your support, an annual subscription is US$10/year. I just renewed. Best CA$1/month I've ever spent.

I agreed with the 3 fields, KeyChain cannot record 3 fields login, and yes there are some hit and miss for some websites without autofill. But starting iOS 15.4, you can write notes to the specific login, set up verification code, and record the credit cards info with Safari.

I'm still using Lastpass but I had to get rid of the phone Android app. At the time, I didn't want to "learn" how to use Bitwarden...might do it in the future but no rush.

Did anyone use Roboform before for passwords?

Interesting. I use LastPass and hadn't heard of BitWarden before. I need to check it out.

I came very close to switching to Bitwarden, but when I looked into it, 2 features were missing that I really like: 1) storing & autofilling credit card information, and 2) autofilling/drop down within the webpage UI element. Am I correct in saying these two features are not available with Bitwarden (free or Pro version)?
