[Air Canada] convert Air Canada buddy pass to 30000 AP points

The following is for Anyone with an AC buddy pass obtained with an Aeroplan credit card

Prince of Travel announced the following: Link
Although this isn’t being publicly promoted by Air Canada, I’ve confirmed through an internal source that the Air Canada Buddy Pass can now be exchanged for 30,000 Aeroplan points – a feature that’s being introduced in recognition of the reality around travel planning during the pandemic.
For some the buddy pass is useful for others the points make more sense.

How to find your buddy pass:
  • Log into your AC account
  • Goto My Aeroplan
  • Goto benefits
  • The buddy pass should be listed

Process:
  • Call into Aeroplan (not AC) 1-800-361-5373
  • Ask to convert your buddy pass into 30000 points
  • if the rep is confused HUCA (hang up call again)
  • You must have a Buddy Pass in your benefits
  • This may take up to 10-14 business days or longer

Buddy Pass conversion end Date:

Air Canada has confirmed that the deadline for converting a Buddy Pass will be November 30, 2021

Disclaimers:

You must be an Aeroplan member
You must have a buddy pass in your benefits

Thread Summary
When will Air Canada expire converting the buddy pass to 30000 points?

numerous posters have heard from AC reps stating April 30, 2021. Link, link
Milesopedia has stated April 30, 2021
Prince of Travel in video posted on the process has stated the date could be April 30, 2021 or ongoing as necessary link to video
Extended to May 31, 2021

Change to the expiry date for conversion of the Buddy Pass:
Scott O'Leary: AC will honour Buddy Pass conversions to 30k pts for CC apps made before April 30, even if the Pass takes a few months to show up.
Also thanks to asianraver (post 171) for pointing this out
The above Scott O'Leary quote was taken from Flyertalk

FAQ question - where to check if one has a Buddy Pass on Aeroplan.com?
I can't find the "Available Benefits" ...... I probably don't have one anyway as I am existing TD Aeroplan cardholder only

Wonder what happens when the first wave of buddy passes are set to expire and flights are still reduced if they will extend the expiry date

Interesting, the TD and CIBC aeroplan visa infinite cards both have FYF and 20k points and 1 buddy pass with 1k spend. If this works for everyone, it just become 50k points!!

Does existing aeroplan credit card holder get a buddy pass or for new applications only?

I applied and had two Aeroplan Visas (now down to one) before the pandemic (March 2020), that means I can't get a buddy pass right? Thank you

1 comment from PoT page, so YMMV or it may die soon before we get it in our account
I just got mine converted. The agent told me that this is targeted, and should have an email about it (although I never got the email). The points will arrive 10-14 days.

Is OP Prince of Travel? They've cited POT since 2018... Ricky's content isn't bad... but this is kind of a cheapshot if this is the case.

Nope, just have three buddy passes. Keeping one buddy pass and coverted two others today. Great post by PoT and thought I would cross post here to help others.

Interesting. Does anyone know if this is a promotion and will it will end?
Would be interested in applying for the card if it's the case.

Yes it is only for new applicants. If you are interested in getting one you would have to apply for a TD or CIBC card.

You managed to get 3 passes by applying for a card in all three categories? (Visa Infinite, Infinite Priv, Biz)?
