Air Canada seat selection for tickets purchased via Travelocity

Air Canada seat selection for tickets purchased via Travelocity

I purchased Air Canada flight tickets along with hotels on Travelocity.

Am I able to choose seat selection on Air Canada website? I remember seeing something that if you don't book via Air Canada you can't choose seats?? I will be travelling from YYZ to LAX with a wife and a 6 yrs old child so it is important at least our son to seat with one of us.

Do I have to pay to choose seats?

Please limit replies to people who actually have gone through same booking.

It is Air Canada Tango economy class. I tried to call air Canada and they put a message on saying that they don't answer calls and directed people to go to website. I suspect because of the baggage handler strike.

If you have an Air Canada booking reference you should be able to buy your seats. You need to ask Travelocity for the Air Canada booking reference.

Travelocity will email you an e-ticket # and reference#(6 characters).
Go to aircanada.com, my bookings and enter reference#, look up the status of your booking and they give you an option to pay for advance seat selection.
24 hrs before your flight, seat selection is free.
Have a safe trip:)

If you call in and speak to live agent from Air Canada, they will not charge you to select seat in advance (more than 24 hours) as long as you are traveling with a child younger than 12 years old. That is just what I did.

I think all international (non-US) flights seat selection is included. Domestic and US flights the seat selection depends on the fare class.

Thank you- I called a live agent that I was traveling with my child, and they waived the advanced seating fee.
