Damn, this is pretty hot considering flying to Halifax used to cost at the very least $250-300

So I guess it’s okay for Next Departure to find the deal and for you to simply copy and paste without providing credit?

I've been to Truro NS before [around a hour away] and I don't recall much to do there. Perhaps those who go should chime in. I'd say 3 days 2 nighter is probably enough.
We're all bozos on the bus until we find a way to express ourselves...

I would say if you rent a car you could easily spend a good amount of time there. Drive up to Bay of Fundy or down to Peggy's Cove. Eat some lobster, tour around. Would love to hear others ideas!

Depends how far you're willing to go. It's a decent 10-14 day trip to do Cape Breton, PEI, and NB from Halifax.

For hotels in Halifax, the best to be walking distance to everything at a semi reasonable rate would be Prince George, Sutton Place, Hollis, or Halifax Marriott. If you use priceline and set the hotel quality to 4* or higher (and location set to downtown Halifax) you can get the express deal and it should be one of those. The 4* casino hotel specifically for express deals is only either the Mariott or Hollis, so you can get a better deal often times that way.

Things to do: Harbour cruise (any of the tall ships, check Murphy's on the Water for sailing times and prices). Citadel Hill, Halifax Public Gardens, Art Gallery of NS, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Alexander Keith's Brewery Tour, Discovery Center and Pier 21. Great places to eat are abound, check out reviews on your favourite site, I enjoy Maxwell's, The Triangle, The Bicycle Thief, and The Press Gang. For some fun evening pub activity, try The Split Crow or The Lower Deck. There are quite a few craft breweries to visit around the city as well. If you haven't had it before, you'll need to try a Halifax Donair (google pizza corner if you're interested in some late night greasy options), as well as Brothers Pepperoni (can order in most restaurants fried with dip or buy it yourself to eat as you'd like).

Outside of Halifax but near enough to drive, Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay, many wineries in the Annapolis Valley (Domaine Grand Pre, Luckett Vineyards (they have an old British style phone booth in the middle of the vineyard you can make free calls from), and Benjamin Bridge.) If you're in the area, drive up the "mountain" as the locals call it and down the other side and visit Halls Harbour for some great views of the high tides of the bay of Fundy and eat (overpriced) lobster fresh from the tank at the Lobster Pound. Wolfville also has plenty of great restaurants to choose from, recommend Church Brewing (a brewpub style place built in an old church).

If some adventure is up your alley, Tidal Bore rafting up the Shubenacadie river is fun and fun for most ability levels - google it and you'll find the tour company that puts it on. It's a most of the day affair though and goes depending on the tides.
Outside of that, whale watching tours from Digby Neck area are great, the old fort in Annapolis Royal is wonderful as well as the town itself, and if you like the outdoors the national park Kejimkujik is stunning, especially by the lake at night. It's also a dark sky preserve so a great place to star gaze etc. They also have a seaside adjunct which has beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear water. If you're planning on swimming, prepare to be cold though.

You can also get to PEI and back in a reasonable amount of time (a bit less than 4hrs driving each way, or there's a ferry which can sometimes be somewhat quicker). Be aware that crossing the Confederation Bridge (or taking the Northumberland ferry) is also going to cost a non-insignificant amount of money. ($47 toll on the bridge, more if you take the ferry). Lastly, if you're renting a car, reserve well in advance - there's still a shortage of them.

Sorry for the block of tourist propaganda. :)
