Wow, not bad. That's cheaper than the $400/pp seats I had previously a few years ago with WestJet... I purchased those along with the cheap $99/night stays because my wife works for the hotel chain, not only that, but the car rental and inter island fares were at the all time low... and the 4 of us had a great time! 8 days total, 4 in Honolulu, 4 in Maui...
Thank you RFD community for helping me with spending money!

typical sale price? i flew to OGG last month on AC for $380 pp (the sale was more like $330 but i had to buy flex fare).

This is def a good price though regardless

I once bought super cheap round trip tickets to Maui on a whim (buy now, think later). They were from Bellingham and were like $200 and something pp round trip.

Booked em and then a month later started going about planning the rest of my vacation. That's when I learned how much accommodations cost in Hawaii. Astonished Face Vacation did not end up being as cheap as I thought... haha

accommodations are easily the most expensive part of the trip. and they seem to be generally way up since pre COVID. (and obviously the exchange rate sucks too).

The accommodation prices in Hawaii are now stupid expensive. My next trip is with my backpack, tent and hammock to the Big Island to Volcano National Park with one night stay at a reasonable accommodation to clean up and then head out.

If you can find a reasonably priced rental car and not trying to impress a significant other, sleeping in the car is also possible.

Did this in '98, cost was $1 per night at campground , max stay 4 nights at a time then came back for another 4 then pushed on to another spot, took the entire Island down heavy spending 16 days. Hiked Haleakalā National Park, stayed overnight in mummy bags at summit w 2 buddies. Backpacked Maui and tented as well back in the day, all good, and surfed:) Hippyed it out good back in the day.

Good flight price if you wanna go spend lots of cash nowadays in Hawaii
How can I be broke when I am saving so much?

As of late, whatever you'll 'save' in airfare to Hawaii will be more than eaten up by sky-high (and quite frankly ridiculous) prices for accommodation.

Paid over 5k for 7 nights stay in Honolulu in December during the peak season. Crazy expensive. The room was a suite and still tiny compared to other location's suites.

There have been quite a few Winnipeg to Hawaii deals for $400 as well lately and that included Winnipeg to Vancouver. Pretty cheap. Like others mentioned, the hotels and total travel was just too much. Mexico flights were a few hundred more but 1/3 of the trip duration and accommodations were about 1/3 as well.

Not a great deal at all....you can easily find $400 direct flights to Hawaii and save the hassle of connecting via US

Booked a trip with Costco Travel which includes air fare for 4 and 4.5 star resort the week after March break at about $6200 for Honolulu. I thought it was decent since it includes accommodation.

If you have your own camping gear there are places to camp on Maui that are free and other campgrouds with facilities that are pretty cheap compared to hotels.

Thanks for the post, found a reward booking for a steal!

FYI, if you have any friends who work for Marriott/Hilton, there’s plenty of F&F rates for February right now!
