[Air Miles] 400 Bonus Air Miles when you open a WealthSimple Invest account

Expiry:
December 31, 2020
Retailer:
Air Miles
More offers from Air Miles
I saw this on the Air Miles app. Receive 400 Bonus Miles when you open and fund a new Wealthsimple Invest account (min. $1000 deposit in the first 90 days). Offer is only applicable to new WealthSimple clients. Participants must keep $500 in their account for 6 months from initial funding date or a $50 penalty will be deducted from their final withdrawl amount.

Seems like a pretty good deal considering wealthsimple has zero commission trading and/or you could just hold $500 in there for 6 months.

*Also in the Air Miles app is the following: 400 Bonus Miles when you open and fund a new WealthSimple Trade account (min. $500 in deposit and trades in the first 90 days.)

Put is $500 as a TFSA. Do they have 6 months GIC?
Have too many phones... This is how I limit my monthly phone payment.
Public Mobile $35 5GB, $11 250MB, 2x $5 50min/50text, Zoomer $36 6GB plan,
Fido $5 4GB plan with a free tablet, $0 FPL home phone.

Opening up a wealthsimple trade for 400 air miles seems like the better deal. No commissions and you don't have to hold the funds for 6 months and you only have to deposit $500 instead of $1000

$50 (post #5) or 400 AM, which is better?

The linked one only applies to wealthsimple invest accounts. If you want a wealthsimple trade account then I'd go with the airmiles offer

I did the 600am offer months ago for $500 deposit, had to send a few emails to get the credit, but got it eventually.

Fund is pretty good, I returned about 10% from $500 since April.

Is opening this type of account recommended for a RESP?

No it doesn't sound like you can. It says only for new wealthsimple clients. But maybe if you tried doing it at the same time it'll work.

If I currently have a Invest account and open a Trade account for the 400AM on that one, will I get it or nah? This new customer thing is weird.
