I would think that it's because of inflation? Things in general are getting more expensive and air miles redemption are less valuable (i.e. every unit of air mile can redeem less unit of goods as time goes by) so they have to increase the unit of air miles reward to make up for it? lol just my wild guess :)
It's still too early to mess with air miles collectorsGrinning Face With Smiling Eyes

Anyone plan out the most optimize way to do this in Ontario?
Before noon of the 14th (or on the day when all the T&C are available), someone will have done it. Spend $50 at Shell on gift cards for one of the other partners?

Edit: I picked up the Ontario booklet from Rexall behind the counter. The Shell offers require 25 L minimum, so you won't be able to buy just gift cards.

Ah I'm glad they aren't requiring anything thru airmilesshop this time around. The 1250 bonus one earlier this year required it, and I had a heck of a time trying to get them to properly add my ebay online purchase despite going thru the website correctly. Took a few chats with their reps to get those bonus points added.

Where does one get one of these coupon books? Is it only happening in certain areas of Ontario?

You can usually get the offer booklets at participating retailers during the event. The offers should eventually also appear online sometime Nov 14.

Last year the event was nationwide, so I'm assuming the same this year - OP title updated.

Or i will get 2000 AM for using 7 offers in total?

Nice.. If this can stack with the 25off staples snail coupon #doubledip
I sometimes get those in the mail. It's a hard thick paper mail. U would need to buy 100$ worth online

Plus they also have a bonus code for 100ams on $100 staples purchase... Maybe tripled dip!

They do. And even though they may not post to your account until the new year, as long as you earned them in 2017, you’ll get Onyx by March.
If it is like last year (which spanned 2016 and 2017) The miles from redeeming each individual qualifying offer posted in November and December and counted towards your 2016 miles . The 1900 bonus miles (2000 with 7 offers this year) posted 3 months later in roughly February and they counted towards your earn in the 2017 air miles. To get the Onyx you needed 6000 in a calendar year, so if you're counting on the 2000 AM bonus to top you off for this year, they likely won't but it will be a healthy head start to next year.

I was easily able to get Onyx status this year with Shop the Block, Mega Miles, and getting the Plat AM Amex and doing the minimum spend. From that, I've redeemed about $300 dollars in cash miles, free cirque du soleil tickets, a free ~$200 wine class and dinner in NOTL, and free tickets I picked up for friends for a wine show in Halifax, and I still have 4100 dream miles sitting around that I don't know what to do with.

Air Miles for the typical earner are useless... if you play the big promo's and Onyx status appropriately, the earn and reward rate has some huge potential.

What benefit does Onyx provide other than extra 10% on some flights and personal shopper? Do you get other exclusive dream miles offers too? Is it worth trying to get?

Check out my post just above.
There is the flight discount, and yes, there are often Onyx discounts for dream rewards although I haven't made too much use of these.
There appears to be some priority for customer services which is helpful given their track record.

I would say the biggest benefit is if you're quick, AirMiles has released exclusive events rewards that cost 1 airmile... This has included for me a 3 course dinner for 2 with a wine tasting and class in Niagara, 2 tickets to cique to soleil in Ottawa, A wine show in Halifax, and more common stuff in the past like cineplex packages/Canada's Wonderland.

If you're quick enough to catch a couple of them, it makes it worth it.
