Deal Link:
Expiry:
July 22, 2020
Retailer:
Airmilesshops.ca
Two days only
July 21- July 22

Similar promotion that was there in May.

Airmilesshop.ca is running an event where you caN get 15x airmiles on apple product purchases. With eligible purchase you get free AirPods. For anyone looking to buy a MacBook, this can give a sudden boost to the airmiles.

Apologies if this is a repost. I didn’t find any yet.

I have never used airmiles before how would this compare to aeroplan 7x the points?

I was kind of on the fence for getting my wife an iPad but I think this seals it. It's like getting an additional $60 off.

airmiles
spend $20 = get 1 mile
Spend $2000 = get 100 miles

100 miles x 15x = 1500 miles

1910 miles = $201

Aeroplan

$1 per mile
spend $2000 = 2000 x 7 = 14,000 pts

14,000 pts =
redeem 10,000 pts = $75 costco card

To me, 15x looks better since I get some onyx deals spending slightly less airmiles but then I think it depends on what you want to do with miles/points. There are some really smart people here on rfd who would be able to answer your question correctly.
If you collect Aeroplan, you may want to wait for the promotion with Aeroplan points.

For anyone like me who can’t do the math in my head, that’s a return of 7.9% on the Airmiles promotion vs. 5.25% on Aeroplan.

If you use your Aeroplan points towards flights they’re gonna worth much more.

Personally, and from prior experience, I'd take 35,000 Aeroplan points for my 3 one-way flights in NA, anytime. I can't say the same with 3,750 Airmiles though. just my two pennies.

Worth much more than 7.9% cashback? I doubt it.

If you use it wisely then yes. A long haul round trip flight within North America costs 25k pts which could save you around $400. Then 14k points is $224 and that's 11.2% back. Potentially higher if you redeem for intercontinental flights with stopovers and/or open jaws. Under current situation, of course flights don't seem like a good option but normally it's a much better way to spend aeroplan points than gift cards.

According to howtosavemoney.ca

Typical value of an Aeroplan mile: 1.7 to 2.6 cents
Maximized value of an Aeroplan mile: 3.4 to 8 cents
Low-end value of an Aeroplan mile: 0.5 to 0.9 cents

If we use a 2 cent Aeroplan value with 7x points promo you get a return of of 14%. At 3 CPM the return becomes 21% at Apple.

The above CPM is only true if you redeem for flights. Gift cards diminish the CPM and are not worth it in my opinion.

If you fly than the aeroplan 7x deal is much better. If you want cash back than Airmiles wins.

how did you come up with 1910 miles = $201?

looks airmiles is better but, remember though, when you redeem airmiles at metro, the items there are usually over-priced. especially when they running redeem 95 miles get 20 miles back, which means 75 miles = 10 bucks.

areoplan is more straight forward when you redeem for gift card, i know you will lose some on this. but just less hassle.

My wife's old S9 had a cracked screen for months, but on the weekend, the screen became non-responsive, so we basically had little choice other than to get her a new phone this week. I'm sure the price of the 11 will go down once they introduce iphone 12. With that being said, this special, combined with the fact that Airmiles also has an offer that you can stack with this one (shop at 3 retailers and spend over $300 before July 27, get a bonus 300 miles), made paying full price an easier pill to swallow. 1000 Air Miles isn't a bad consolation prize.

Bought a 16" MacBook Pro with apple care but I can't remember if I signed into the airmileshop or not with my account #. Is there a way to check I receive the points or would I get an email confirmation from Airmilesshop?
