Alberta taxes, is it okay to send something to alberta?

Hi,

I have a product that i want to buy from USA and ship it to me in Ontario. however tax is too much for the product,
my brother is in Alberta and if he receives it i can save up to $1000.

I just want to know if its a legal option to do so and he forwards it to me in Ontario,
or is it illegal? little confused..

please let me know

In Alberta you will still possibly get hit for gst and duties + brokerage. In effect you are only saving Ontario PST. Shipping from AB to ON will also need to be considered if needed.

Technically, I think it would be considered illegal by the CRA to avoid taxes that are legally due. Practically, I suspect you wouldn't get caught.

That's like a $15000 product.
I'd seriously be interested in seeing if a courier would even insure a product for $15000 and if they lose it if they'll actually pay out.
