I ordered a couple for the family. They are good backup / beater / loaner phones. This is a great price, mine came to 119.50 CAD shipped, for the 3GB / 64 GB version. Let your credit card issuer do the conversion and pay in USD, Paypal likes to rip us off on currency conversion. Unlike the Xiaomi and Poco phones, this has band 66 for Freedom and should have most of the Canadian bands you need. 6000 mah battery is really nice.

This phone won't win awards in any category (except for maybe battery life) but given the specs it's a steal for the price. You can also get the 4 GB / 128 GB version for roughly 23 bucks more if you want, although not sure it's worth the extra 20% in a low end phone like this, you decide. In the past Umidigi cameras have been terrible, but I hear they've improved them recently... Still, I would not choose this phone if you want to shoot a lot of photos or video, get something better.

The usual applies to Umidigi phones.. don't expect any update to Android 12 and don't expect a long life of security updates.

If you order more than 1, make them separate orders, and use the UMIPOWER7 coupon for 7 bucks off each time. You can use the coupon twice per account.

Thanks OP!

Band support is actually quite good for a China phone. WAY better than most of the Xiaomi and Poco phones. 3G support is a bit lacking but in 2021 you'd really only rely on that in rural areas. Should work well with all of the major Canadian carriers including Freedom.

4G: FDD-LTE: B1 /2 /3 /4 /5 /7 /8 /12 /13 /17 /18 /19 /20 /26 /28A /28B /66

TDD-LTE: B34 /38 /39 /40 /41

3G: WCDMA: B1 /2 /4 /5 /6 /8 /19

TD-SCDMA: B34 /39

2G: GSM: B2 /B3 /B5 /B8

I'm in for one. Will use it with a $10 Fido 4GB data plan and leave it in the car for Android Auto.

Like most of the China phones, this has dual SIM and Microsd support. There is nothing comparable available in Canada anywhere near this price. Great phone to use with the $99 / year freedom talk and text plan and something like the 4 GB Fido data only plan.

If you choose standard post like I did, expect to wait 6-12 weeks to get the phone.

Bump, guess there's not a lot of love for Umigid these days. I'd much rather get this Umidigi Power 5 for $120 than the Umidigi A9 Pro for $220. At prices over $250 I start to lose interest in China phones, given the lack of warranty, support, etc. $120 is a sweet price though.

How reliable is UMIDIGI brand? I recall from older threads that the phone does not last long and has a high failure rate.

The A5 Pro survived a fair degree of abuse from the kids. The micro usb port was broken by the kids on one of the A5 Pros (pulling on the cord or plugging in backwards), but that is common problem with micro usb phones. The other A5 Pro is still going strong and still gets OS updates after almost 2 years.

The Power 5 uses a USB C port which is much more durable.

I think sub $150 is a sweet spot for Umidigi, I personally wouldn't pay more than $200 for one, I don't understand buying the higher end Umidigi for $300+.

Xiaomi is the more reliable brand but it's more expensive and I'm done with Xiaomi phones because the Canadian band support is terrible on most of the new models.

None of the China phones have support or warranty here, which is why I would recommend them at very low prices, but not at higher prices for higher end models.

I have exactly the same thought.
But I am thinking of Speakout $25 a year for shortcode text and fido $5 4GB data plan. For calls and regular, I use fongo.
So total for a year would be less than $80.
If I buy something that is not in deep discounted, my father will punish me; everyone will laugh at me. I will be the strange kid who doesn't fit in.

Just saw UMIDIGI BISON (IP68/IP69K Waterproof Rugged Phone) will have bigger discount June 21,
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001337 ... 04325784.0

will wait for that to have a Waterproof Phone
The link is for the 1st gen Umidigi Bison from 2020. Good phone but for some reason it comes with Android 10 vs. Android 11. With Umidigi you can't count on guaranteed Android updates. Also worth noting that the BIson battery is 5000 mah vs 6000 mah on the Power 5. The Bison likely has a better camera though, and more RAM and storage. Power 5 is 720p screen and Bison is 1080p. Pros and cons of each.

There is newer 2021 Umidigi Bison with Android 11, I'd wait for a deal on that.

50% off from aliexpress is a joke seeing how they inflate the original price, it's more like 10-15% off

No one really knows, this is a brand new model. In the past couple of years, Umidigi has been steadily improving their cameras.

Despite bragging by Umidigi about a 48 MP Sony sensor, reviews for the Bison camera rate it as average / mediocre. The Power 5 is too new to have camera reviews but I'd expect it to perform similarly.

How long do these phones usually take to arrive on Standard Shipping from Aliexpress. If i order today, it says July 26 arrival, but is that accurate?

Battery is good.

but overall bad phone, heavy, some microphone issues (with mine atleast)
Do you have the Bison or the Power 5? Anything with a 5000-6000 mah battery is going to be heavy.

4-12 weeks. You might get it by July 26 but I wouldn't count on it. It should come before Labour Day.

For some reason they unfortunately reduced the display resolution to 720p in the new Power 5, vs 1080p in the Power 3 (they skipped making a Power 4).

Not great but on the plus side, it will further improve battery life.
