http://www.aliexpress.com/item/-/1618754769.html

Their processing time wasn't as fast, but the shipping for me came quite fast. I purchased mine on April 7, they shipped on April 12.
However the tracking number they gave me didn't show up saying it's been dispatched until April 17, but weirdly it came yesterday, April 28.

The camera is legit, it is recording in 1080 and files are in .MOV. The only thing is I'm not sure how to tell if it's 140 degree wide angle.
Quality is exactly the same as the G1W I bought previously.

Alternative Firmwares
The G1W series dash cams can be flashed with other firmwares. Proceed at the risk of bricking your camera.
ryar wrote: Why not? The hardware is identical to the DOD LS300W which Future Shop and Best Buy sold until recently for $200. Here is the newer model @ Future Shop, the only difference is it can connect to an external GPS. As I mentioned earlier, the firmware is easy to flash, one could always revert back and it is very difficult to brick this unit.
Improvements include recording at a higher bitrate (15 kbps vs 12 kbps), AWB, image flip (can use camera upside down)and various other menu functions.

Here is a link to the firmware which I posted earlier for those interested for the G1WH, not sure why the OP is opposed to upgrading our units from a $50 dash cam to a $200 one: LINK

My observations from the alternate firmware as posted earlier, I am still using Shadow GT300W 1306180-SC-2 and it is working perfectly:

12 kbps: Carscam, Tantugo, GW1H
15 kbps: DOD (all 3), Shadow (both)
AWB: DOD LS388W, Shadow GT300W 1306180
Givoe G1W buttons were not responsive, all other firmwares worked. This is probably the stock firmware for the G1W.
G1WH: WDR on/off option. All others WDR stays on.
DOD LS300W 20130328: 2 channel audio @ 1024, all others 1 channel at 512. Not really noticeable; probably not true 2 channel anyways
Loop: Only G1WH has 3/5/10, all others have 2/3/5
LS300W 20130328: Highest bitrate of all at 15767 kbps, other 15 kbps bitrates were 15255 ish.
Image rotation on all DOD and Shadow; camera can be used upside down
Carscam has PC camera when connected to PC as well as mass storage
All work with AV out cable, all record when plugged in and stop when unplugged

ryar wrote: On another note I uploaded the firmware package I found on the Russian forums. I also found the original firmware that my unit came with which you can flash if you don't like the others. Instructions are in the zip file and below, they are a little different then the G1W. I couldn't get any firmware bin files to flash until I changed it's name to FWDM800H. So far I flashed the DOD LS388W firmware sucessfully and the original G1WH 2014.0108 firmware. Note I ordered my G1WH from Banggood but am fairly certain the firmware will work on all genuine G1WHs. Flash at your own risk, it worked for me no problem so hopefully you will have the same luck.

Firmware Update Instructions

1.Download the firmware file to your computer
2.Unzip the file
3.Format your memory card in your computer (or unit)
4.Copy the bin file to the root of your memory card
5.Change the name of the firmware you would like to flash to FWDM800H (required as the G1WH will not update with bin files with names other then this)
6.Put card into camera
7.Power camera on (make sure the camera is plugged in)
8.The camera will update automatically. The screen will stay off but the status light will ight up; it will take 30-60 seeconds
9.After updating, remove the memory card and test with another memory card. Remove the firmware from the memory card you would like to use or it will flash every time

12 Mbps: Carscam, Tantugo, GW1H
15 Mbps: DOD (all 3), Shadow (both)
AWB: DOD LS388W, Shadow GT300W 1306180

I'm going to go with the Shadow GT300W 1306180-SC-2. It has all the features of the LS388W but the menus look a little cleaner (IMO). I watched some similar recordings from several of these and there was very little noticeable difference other than the AWB which seemed to handle rapid light changes a little better. Sorry, I can't post the videos , too much personal stuff here. Maybe LS300W 20130328 as 3rd choice after LS388W, highest video bitrat and 2 channel audio recording. No AWB, too bad.

DIY Polarized Filter to Reduce Windshield Glare
AncasterRFD wrote: Materials: RealD 3D glasses, pen, quarter, scissors, magicwrap (from Dollarama).

1. Bend the RealD arm outward until it breaks off, the frame parts that hold the lens in place pops open allowing the 3D lens to be removed easily.
2. Draw a circle with the quarter and cut it out (the 25c coin size makes a circular lens big enough to prevent vignetting/keyhole effect, and it fits into the inner groove).
3. Go to your vehicle, put something on your dash to create a reflection in the windshield.
4. Mount your camera and slowly turn the lens you made in 2 until the reflection goes away, that will be the exact position the 3D lens needs to be.
5. Wipe any fingerprints off both the G1WH and the 3D lens. Use magicwrap and secure it to the lens housing.

Completely removable, no residue. Cost me nothing because I already had the materials.

Where I got the idea and why it works:

I ordered from them before. No different then DX, FP, or FT. Just be ready to wait a few weeks/month for your package, and possibly dinged by customs if they open the package.

I've ordered from them a couple of times. Similar experience as when ordering from DX, FocalPrice and other Chinese based online stores. Took about a week or so to process the order and ship out and takes anywhere from 3-5 weeks to arrive from order date which is typical of buying from these Chinese online stores.

Its not about fulfillment, its more about the "Genuinity" claimed in the thread title.
Unless someone "already" received this very specific dashcam from that seller and opened it to confirm the chip inside, there is no telling what you are going to get (especially with counterfeit reports mentioned on dashcamtalk)

Good point.. As far as them fulfilling orders my experience with them as been the same as other Chinese based online stores so they seem trustworthy in that department. If the item is genuine or not from them is another matter. :)

In my experience, the fake ones are usually substantially cheaper ($30-$45 vs ~$55 USD).

This is the cheapest price for the regular G1W ($50.74 CAD + credit card currency conversion fees): http://www.aliexpress.com/item/G1W-NOVA ... 49512.html
