Nice. I'm kicking myself for not finding something like this a few weeks ago. I added up the price of all the pieces I needed and decided a USG would be the better buy ($160). While the USG is nice, I'd much prefer to be running PfSense.

JM_Waaat did a cool build a few weeks ago. Before he posted the video, this was $100 USD. It went OoS a few days later and is now listed at almost 2x the original cost. You have to jump on stuff like this else you lose out:

Bought a 4 lan j1900 at this one

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3296987 ... 4c4d9q4iNt

There's two coupons to bring the final cost shipped to $110

edit, cancelled the 4lan and bought the 3805U to run VM with pfsense and pihole

I'd stay away from the J1900 as it doesn't support AES-NI. There were rumors earlier this year that future versions of pfSense will require AES-NI. Version 2.5 will still be OK without AES-NI however: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/141699/ ... ire-aes-ni.
You might want to consider OPNSense. I requirement for AES-NI and does everything PF does.... Arguably better in fact.

I always find some strange issues with these cheap things. For example, you usually cannot upgrade BIOS on them, and without it they might not boot from USB3. Network device detection doesn't work OOB in Untangle (the installer just hangs). The power brick doesn't have any North American certifications and it's so light it makes you wonder.
They do work with pfSense though, but that's about it.

What do you guys use these for? Servers? "Beyond raspberry pi" network filtering?

I just watched this video, and read the posting at:
https://forums.serverbuilds.net/t/jdms- ... -guide/187

But could not find anything anywhere near the prices he indicated... It doesn't help I've been out of the PC building game for way too long

Where does one find deals on any of these - eBay only?

PS: The DFI Industrial PC is $175 USD - wow! It was $109 just a few days ago

Toronto (Bloor West …
But.... I have an i7-4790 gaming PC in an ITX case that is getting long in the tooth and the only way I'll ever be able to to justify replacing it is if I turn it into some kind of network appliance afterwards. :|

Though honestly I'm not sure what at this point as I already run a ZyWALL 310 which has been great.

lol, no where close
Case: Akasa Galileo 38 $44.54
Mobo: Intel DQ77KB 47 $38.00
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1260L 14 $39.95
Those are unrealistic prices...

pentium 3805 U w/2 LAN + 2 serial - 104
Will Pentium 3805 U run 4K videos at all?

Also, what does the "104" indicate? The price of the 3805U No RAM No SSD NoWiFi is $130.

Edit: I’m thinking of buying the i3-7100U barebone set on AliExpress and moving all my laptop components to it.
It plays 4K apparently.
