OnePlus 7 (non-pro) 256GB, 8GB RAM $560 CAD all in

Retailer:
AliExpress
This is the OnePlus 7 that they decided not to sell in North America however you can still buy it.

Most people here who ordered from this seller (fantasy) usually did not get hit with duties (using standard shipping) so this phone should cost you about 650 all in depending on the exchange rate. Overall a great alternative to the OnePlus 7 pro, same specs overall, same camera.

EDIT: now $614 CAD

God bless.
Some of the plus points of the non pro Oneplus 7 over pro version:
1. ITS WAY CHEAPER.
2. Face unlock will be faster as it doesn't have a popup camera.
3. I don't prefer the curved display as it is more fragile, glare, and increased chances of accidental touches.
4. It will have a significantly longer battery life due to 60hz display.
5. Gorilla glass 6 on front vs 5 on pro
6. Easier to hold -smaller (better ergonomics)
7. Better performance: Lower resolution (QHD vs FHD+) and lower refresh rate display with same processor (higher benchmarks)

It's not the same camera setup as the one plus 7 pro though...

Well the 7 Pro is almost double the price in Canada, about $1130 all in.

7 pro is just over $990 and free shipping on AliExpress, most likely no tax or duty.

Yes, I just made that statement in response to the original post which said that one plus 7has same camera as one plus 7 pro. Which is not true.

Sorry, what I meant was that they have the same main shooter. 48 MP, f/1.6, (wide), 1/2", 0.8µm, Laser/PDAF, OIS

Same selfie camera too.
16 MP, f/2.0, 25mm (wide), 1/3.1", 1.0µm

Same processor, SD855, USB 3.1. UFS 3.0 storage, dual stereo speakers (Dolby Atmos). And OnePlus has a good track record for software updates. Their hardware quality is usually good as well.

Same 90hz screen as the pro, as well? Looks more like a 6T, physically.

Works with Freedom?
Bands are all there, if they kept deploying the Freedom profile since OP5, it should be ok. Worse case, you just keep forcing the phone onto specific band/network and don't let it auto switch. No idea if they updated it to support band 13. When I got a new Band 13 sim from Freedom, my OP5 didn't run that well but I only ran it for like 4 days until my S10 showed up.

But if you are on Freedom, Samsung S10 line is awesome. VoLTE and Wifi Calling just work right out of the box. Way better experience. Without VoLTE, you data drop to dead slow 3G when you get a call. Very annoying.

I am all for compromises of Oneplus if it saves a buck (or $300). But when Galaxy S10 512GB can be had for $699 and Samsung A50 for $0 with $10 Tab on Freedom. I don't see why anyone need to downgrade to Oneplus brand.

This is not a bad deal tho, if there's no duty. $650 for a 855/8GB/256GB phone is decently priced.

And before someone calls me a hater, I have owned Oneplus One,3,5 and it has been my go to brand for last 6 years, warts and all on Freedom/Wind.

One plus 6 or 7 with the pixel APK camera sideloaded is awesome.

It works except you will unlikely get VoLTE or WiFi calling.

If that's your jam, sure.

Dual sim is only a nice thing for me may be 2-3 weeks out of the year when I'm outside of US/Canada. And if I'm outside of US/Canada, chances are I'll bring a burner phone with me anyway, and not my daily.
