No problem. I am surprised too. Call was very clear even with one bar of 4G LTE.

Umidigi is offering me to send the brick back to China to receive a refund. Any idea?

I would go ahead and return the unit. Personally I would try to negotiate an exchange rather then a refund. Even if the only resolution is for a refund, I would go ahead and buy a new A5 again. It's still on presales at $131 cdn.(coupons may still be available)

I based my opinion from having read the two threads here on redflag, also on xda. And of course the reviews on YouTube(look for review less then 7 days old, older reviews are based on specifications only). All and all they are very positive.

keeping in mind this is a budget not a flagship mobile.

I bought mine late on 1st of july and according to the tracking I should received the mobile this week. I mentioned this to show that the turn around is now within a month much faster then at the start of presales...

ultimately gauging such things are based on how well I sleep at night. I mean if the process is too stressful for you, just do the refund and walk away.

best of luck

As far as I know, sending it back to China is pretty much the same thing as buying a new one... doesn't really make sense for me to buy the same thing that broke 2 days after I received it.

Price hasn't changed, it's still $99.99 USD.
The UMIDIGI X is being announced next Monday. Should be interesting to see the price tag on that one.

How many days did it take to get to you from the first email notice of shipment from AliExpress?

This is what I see on tracking from the first email:

Order information received by carrier

So assuming that is the first day how many days did it take others to receive their phone?

Mine was shipped on July 15th and since July 21st Canada Post has been reporting that it's still "Waiting for item".
Not sure how long it takes from when Canada Post updates that they are in possession to home delivery but others have reported it takes about 12 days, I think I will be lucky if I receive it before the end of the week but I'm not holding my breath.

Bought A5 Pro for my daughter to upgrade her Redmi Note 4X. Camera(s) is pretty much the same, everything else is better.

Anyone else having these problems with there phone or can offer some advice.

I have the MTK drivers installed but when I connect the phone to my computer all I can see Is my SD card

Also is there any way to edit the APN settings, I did a quick search and it seems that a few people had the same problem with the A3.
I'm on chatr and my phone is automatically set to Rogers APN. It's showing up as Rogers no service but still working for calls and internet
But I think it messing with my mobile hotspot. Cause every time I create one it saids no internet

It's listed as "Access Point Name" in the options. I was able to set up mine with Fizz using it.

Yeah I got that far but with the Chatr sim there is no option to edit. I may just pick up a fizz or freedom sim so I can get that to work

Snapdragon 625 found in the Redmi note 4 is almost twice as old as the p23 chipset. However, these processors have similar scores with the 625 coming slightly ahead. Most likely not noticeable. The screen has the same resolution and both batteries should provide capable. The more expensive redmi note 7 pro would be the real upgrade here, otherwise mostly sideways.

No regrets buying this phone so far. Call quality is great on VoLTE with Virgin. Battery is great and it supports all network bands from my providers(Virgin/Fido).

It replaced my Xiaomi redmi note 3 SE which doesn't get LTE inside buildings or basement because it lacked bands 13, 17 on Virgin and bands 12, 17 on Fido.

Surprisingly WiFi calling works on Freedom. Wife is happy about that.

The camera isn't the best in low light. I am thinking of using another camera software.

Overall 8/10.
