I have been watching this product for a while and placed an order in June for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage global version phone. It's similar to the Redmi Note 9S but with improvements such as NFC support, a better main rear camera (64MP) and faster charging (30W).

https://www.mi.com/global/redmi-note-9-pro

This phone is currently available at the Mi Global Store for $305.47 CAD plus $4.10 for AliExpress standard shipping. DHL is available as a faster shipping option and will result in a customs charge upon arrival. There are also bundles with accessories at higher prices and different stock levels. Multiple AliExpress sellers have listings for this phone but not all of them provide free or reasonably priced shipping options. The phone price can change slightly from day to day but I update this post within hours or minutes of a price increase so please do not unnecessarily report this deal as expired.

If you want a newer phone at a slightly higher price when it's on sale, the Poco X3 NFC is worth considering.

Aside from the Redmi Note 9 Pro phone itself, I have ordered the following accessories:

GKK Full Protection Hard Case

Thread Summary
The Redmi Note series is Xiaomi's popular mid-range cellular phone product line with budget prices. The Redmi Note 9 Pro global version (joyeuse) provides plenty of features and is an appealing option for buyers who are not in a rush to receive an order from AliExpress. This Android phone does not have full North American LTE band compatibility but it generally works well on most Canadian carriers except for Freedom Mobile. In September 2020, Xiaomi announced and released the Poco X3 NFC with mostly better features. The Poco X3 NFC is worth buying when it's on sale in a slightly higher price range than the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

In before "Chinese security threats", "does it have all the bands?", etc.

Another shit question though... do you have to use this phone with your right hand like in the video? I'm a left hand user and thus would want my power buttons/volume rocker on the left side of the phone for my thumb.

Yeah, a search for Xiaomi on this forum provides plenty of answers to the common questions. I don't expect to stick with MIUI for long if the custom ROM support for this phone is good enough by the time my order arrives. As for your situation, you could use the fingerprint sensor with your left hand like the guy in this video review does at the 3:36 mark.

As per the other thread in regards to the redmi note 9s. if you're going to buy anything on aliexpress now i'd recommend taking the hit with DHL. I'm still waiting for my order from April and with covid the delays on ali have been extended. unless you can wait 3-4 months

I guess AliExpress only accepted a limited number of redemptions for that code. get10 and get5 are also promo code options with lesser discounts.

Is China actually shipping stuff again?

I tried a week ago to ship a few things and they said "We aren't shipping anything to logistics".

I'm also waiting for stuff I've ordered in February and it's sitting at Canada Post's sorting facility.

Well, if my order ends up taking more than 90 days to arrive from the time it ships, then I'll end up with a free phone. Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes The Redmi Note 5 that I've owned since 2018 still works beautifully with the Pixel Experience Plus 9.0 (Pie) custom ROM so I'm in no rush to switch phones.

when we select currency in CAD, do they actually charge in CAD or, they still charge in USD to the CC, then the CC convert it into CAD with additional CC conversion fee?

The Redmi Note 5 global version phone was released over two years ago and is no longer sold on AliExpress. It does not support NFC.

You can enter the promo code at the checkout screen.

Thanks OP, picked up a 9s for about $40 cheaper. Don't think I'll miss the NFC or better camera.

Does not do 700mhz b12 or b17 among others so indoor coverage will suffer with Videotron/fizz.
