Is Alignment Required?

My car is FWD, and my front tire threads have worn out. I am planning to replace the two. When installing new tires, does it just involve balancing, or do I need to do alignment?

It's good to do an alignment once every 2-3 years as over time, bumps and pot holes pushes the alignment off. When you're just installing new tires, it's just mount and balance, they don't do an alignment unless you specific. If you never done one, I'll suggest doing it since it seems like your car has been through a few miles.

Make sure you're also rotating your tires every 2 oil changes or so, so you have even wear with all 4 tires and last you a lot longer so you don't have to replace tires 2 at a time.

No need to align if the car is not pulling to either left or right.

If the tyres worn evenly, that's pretty good evidence that there's no alignment problem.

No, you do not need an alignment.
