All-new 2024 Hyundai Kona sub-compact SUV gets an EV-led design and is larger

The second generation 2024 Hyundai Kona has broken cover with updates styling and a first-ever hybrid version.

The Kona hybrid will join the existing Kona Electric and gasoline powertrains at launch, Hyundai confirmed in a press release. A sportier gasoline Kona N Line will be launched alongside these variants, with a more hardcore Kona N likely following.

The all-new model has grown to 4,355 mm in length, which is 150 mm longer than the outgoing generation, based on the EV variant. It has also gained 25 mm in width and 60 mm in wheelbase.

In all seriousness though, why their cars always look like shit lately. A Kona would probably be a good second car for us as a hatchback option to our sedan, but I just can’t get past how it looks. I’d have to get the top level trip for it to look remotely decent IMO and at that point you’re spending crazy money on a Hyundai (I come from a Hyundai family so can shit on them as much as I like

)

I don't get the hate. It looks much better then the existing Kona.

The only thing I don't like is that Hyundai keeps putting the turn signals on the bumper which is hazardous and make them less visible when close.

For the Kona EV, unfortunately I feel like it will still be very close the to the price of the Ioniq 5 instead of targetting the around 41-42K.

I was literally going to post this exactly. Some people just hate anything Hyundai/KIA, which is fine, but you cannot deny that this version looks a lot better inside and out versus the outgoing model.

I'm actually quite surprised how many Kona's I see on the roads in the GTA. It's a very odd vehicle (not really a CUV, more like a tarted up hatchback).

I definitely hate the low turn signals. Trucks and SUVs that would definitely have a difficult time seeing a Kona make a turn.

That said, put this on the “maybe” list for me. I’d rather have an Ioniq 5, but money talks.

Yeah, I mean they only recalled 125,000 of them from 2019 - 2021 with the 2.0 engines because of potential piston ring problems leading to blown engines and possible engine fires... This was in conjunction with a recall of almost 150,000 Kia seltos / soul with the same engines and same problems. Not to many issues at all.

Perhaps you didn’t get the memo, when a manufacturer goes hybrid or EV you are supposed to give them a completely clean slate and forget about any past issues (see: Ford)

Not to mention they can’t deliver much in the way on existing EV orders in the first place. But don’t worry place your order!

I am talking about the 1.6T, obvious issues with the 2.0's Hyundai put out
