Don't buy an All in One computer. No upgrade path, hard to work on to fix, one component goes - you basically toss it when out of warranty. Go to sell it on the used market - nobody wants them.

That's some seriously under-powered hardware too... ouch. So much on the market that's superior to that, under $1000.

Run away, fast. Go get a Mini PC, ITX or M-ATX build. Pick out a budget build bundle at CC and they'll build you something WAY faster, with all the peripherals.

Get a large monitor and then buy a NUC type of computer that will mount on the back of the monitor’s VESA.

Lenovo Tiny also has a VESA mount

I second this.
Alternatively, you could buy a Tiny PC and if it's big enough, use it to support your monitor.

iMAC are pretty solid. Sister got one and is still using it after 9 years I think? Is also an all in one.

The i3 we are telling the OP not to buy, is probably way faster than what this ^ is.

Just because someone is using one, doesn't mean they are good buys vs other choices on the market. Cheapest one is $1600 + so I don't know how this fits into the "under $1000 budget" either. You can build a monster iTX for that kind of money.
