all outlets and ceiling light in living room off.

after i finished installing my wemo light switch in the dinning room i noticed all the outlets and light fixture in living room went out. now i dont know if it went out before or after i installed the wemo.
check circuit breaker and all is fine. nothing is tripped.
switched each breaker on/off one by one, still no good. switched the main one too.
whats going on?

Just guessing but I would say you wired up your wemo wrong.

this is my second installed. i did one upstair and everything was fine. plus i follow instructions to the T. also, if i wired the wemo wrong how come wemo works flawlessly

Is the wemo wired mid-run? I would guess that the rest of the run is busted.

Any GFCI's in that circuit?

If WEMO is installed mid-way in the basement circuit as per t3359 suggestion then try connecting the livingroom circuit from load side of WEMO to line side of WEMO.

ok maybe the wemo is not compatible with this particular outlet. i took it out and put back the original switch and power back on. i dont understand. i did the same for upstair and it works fine.
maybe the switch upstair has no ground wire and the dining switch has a ground wire?

When you removed the old one, how many cables did you see coming into the electrical box?

3 black ones and 2 white ones . the two white ones are neutral wires. one of the black wire is ground

One of the black wires is ground? This does not sound correct.
Was it actually connected to the ground screw of the box?

Light switches usually have no ground.....Wondering if possible 3 way switch as 3rd black being used as a red. The whites should be maretted together and black in and black out to break power.
