All these “hot” gun deals

Are we just posting every gun we can find now? Regardless of the politics, OP isn’t posting any deals and this is a deals forum. Definitely not hot deals. Where are the mods? If I just started posting every pair of boots I could find I’m sure I would get silenced.

Can they at least be moved into a separate category?
Best deal I ever got was Edifier s3000pros for 544.51 All in shipped.

We're aware of the situation and are working on coming up with a solution.

Also, later this year we'll have a new system in place which will allow anyone to block these threads (or any other category) that they're not interested in.

An overwhelming number of people ( as evidenced by the number of downvotes these threads are getting) are opposed to the "deals" being posted. These threads should be moved to "off topic" as they are simply promoting a political viewpoint which is divisive and promoted by foreign gun lobbies. This is especially insensitive at this time after one of the most horrific gun violence crimes ever has been committed in Nova Scotia. * I believe the guns used in the Nova Scotia massacre were also all "legal".

I don’t even care about the product, it just seems silly to have one person make 3-4 posts simply stating a product exists. The Down votes speak for themselves. If it was 25% off or something I get it. It just feels like the posts are being made to antagonize as they clearly could just have been put in a single thread.

I’ve seen posts removed for much less which is strange. Seems like there is some bias.

Someone may have their comment removed yet there could be a thousand examples of similarly "off topic" posts removed. Heck even in this thread there is a moderator who makes a personal attack, yet their posts is not removed.
Cop pulls over someone for speeding. Depending on how the driver of the car responds and history of the driver will dictate how the ticket is issued.

Yes there's the law (forum rules), and then there's the officer's discretion (how we choose to exercise our moderator's discretion).

As mentioned earlier, Tom is reviewing the matter of Gun posts very seriously. He will be in touch very soon with next steps on this.

On your reference of "personal attacks", if you don't want to be called a troll, I suggest not trolling. If you believe your posting style was labelled incorrectly, please reach out to @TomRFD (who I am sure has nothing better to do....../end sarcasm) for his reconsideration.

After much discussion, here's what we've decided to do.

Since the topic of guns is extremely controversial right now, especially so since the recent federal government banning, we've decided to temporarily move all new firearm deals to a megathread within the Ongoing Deal Discussion forum.

The decision to move them was based on multiple factors including but not limited to: negative behavior by both sides (pro-gun and anti-gun), Hot Deals being overrun with firearm threads, the huge amount of work created for our moderation staff caused by these controversial threads, and us not yet having the features to better manage these types of threads.

We very rarely block any type of deal but when it becomes a larger problem (e.g: coronavirus masks), we have no choice but to step in. Part of the reason we came to this temporary decision with firearms is because we don't want to have to block them. If things kept up as they did on Friday and Saturday, it's highly likely a decision would've been forced upon us by corporate to block them and then there'd be nothing the moderators, website staff, or myself could do about it.

I mentioned that this is only temporary because in Q3 we will be working on a new personalization/filtering project for Hot Deals. Once added to the site, members will then be able to customize what they want to see (or don't want to see) and there will be a filter available for firearms. At that time we'll be able to re-open the Hot Deals forum to the sharing of firearm deals.

This is a terrible “solution” and the thread is damn near unusable.

Why not a sub-forum like for Boxing Day deals?
This space for rent.
