The second one had questionable reviews. They're not Honeywell, just generic. Thinking about the Nordic ones though...

Before you downvote understand what a MERV 12 filter is and how that compares the the Co-op Gold filter or whatever cheap filters people are buying.

Too expensive? The best price I've ever been able to get on 5" filters has been about $29.99 for the filtretes from Lowe's on a combined save the tax furnace filter sale. This sounds like a pretty good deal to me for a merv 12. I think the filtretes are a mer 1550 that translates to around the same merv value.

There are some who would down vote any and everything regardless. Just ignore them

Damn I need 16 x 25 x 1. Seems like it is $90 for 12. With tax it's about $8.50

Thanks, I bought the 2 pack last year for the same price. This is hot!. I bought another pack of 4. Good for a few years :). I think you only need to change them once a year... so no point in getting too many :)

what is the comparison vs the 3m filtrate from costco? I wanted to look and see if there is a rating on those...but they must use their own system.

Can't comment on the deal but I learned something last year about putting more restrictive filters (dust / pollen) in an old furnace (circa 1983). It may have been happening for years before my Ecobee. In reviewing my history provided by my Ecobee I noticed dead spots in the graph. There would be a break in the line of time that should be continuous. I consulted with Ecobee technician who reviewed my logs and he determined that my it must be my furnace shutting off because the reduced air flow. It has a sensor to determine internal heat and will shut off. I would have never know with out the history view of a smart thermostat. I would have just thought it was cycling on / off. I put the old style feather catcher filter back in and the logs were good.

Something to think about if you still have an old furnace and you want to buy new tech filters. Time for a furnace, I know.

4 and 5 inch filters are a hell of a lot more expensive than the 1 inch variety. That is an amazing price for a pack of 4. Locally at a Home Depot a filter like this is roughly $40 each. If you use filters this big, you'd know but your comment suggests otherwise.

Thanks OP! I change mine every 6 months or so, but I check it once a month after 3 and replace early if it starts to look really dirty.

You’re kidding right? I’m just glad i’m not breathing the air you breathe.

Rule of thumb from an HVAC contractor: 1 month per inch of thickness at the very minimum.
