Was eyeing on it for months.
Had always been 225range.
Probably not made in Japan model you refer to?

Not that good of a deal considering the 10 cups version was 140$ a couple of months ago.

Almost $200 for a 5.5-cup MIJ unit - ouch! The smaller cooker doesn't go on sale as often as the larger 10-cup. The last time this 5.5c dipped to $151 was Dec 8, 2016 and all the way back to 2013-2012 for sub $150.

This is the 5 ~ 5.5 cup; so $192 is NOT a good price.

By the way, the 10 cup version was on sale for $140 few times the last few months.

For your information, we cook 1 or 2 cups of rice frequently using the 10 cup cooker and the rice comes out just fine.

It is not that much bigger: 36.8 x 24.1 x 29.2 cm vs 33 x 20.6 x 25.7 cm.

This is the Zojirushi rice cooker that I've been wanting to get. I passed on the 10 cup for $140 because I wanted the smaller version.

Tempting, but I think I'm going to pass on this. I think if it was a bit cheaper I might pull the trigger, but this is still too much for a ricer cooker.

I'm considering just getting a cheaper Tiger version. I make white rice stir fry quite a bit and I'm currently just using a pot. Works fine, but sometimes it sticks to the bottom of the pot. I don't really need any of the fancy functions... I just want perfect white rice every time.

We have had this exact model for 10+ years now, used everyday without a hitch. Paid 159 in 2009 I would buy it again.

And this ladies and gentleman, is why our education system is going to shit. When teachers strike, gangsta kids like our origanal gangsta @DragOnT fail math (and probably a slew of other classes too)

36.8 x 24.1 x 29.2 cm = 25,896 cm^3.
vs
33 x 20.6 x 25.7 cm = 17,470 cm^3

25896/17470 = 1.482

48.2% more

So, takes up ALMOST 50% more room, and... "not that much bigger". Face With Tears Of Joy

DragOnT, kid, please, ask your teacher to revise some of these concepts before you move on to College... we learnt them in Grade 5.

Best of luck

Wow when did they increase the prices so much, its basically the same cooker as it was 10 years ago. I remember paying around 130$ for mine, the stainless version.
edit: anyway, its one of best things I've ever bought, using it 2-3 times a week for a couple of years now and it still looks like new.
