Acer Swift ultrabook (IPS full HD, i3-7100U, 8G RAM, 128G SSD): 640$

Deal Link:

I just ordered this well rounded ultrabook with reasonable cpu /memory/SSD specs, all-metal body, and beautiful 14" IPS full HD screen on amazon.ca, where it seems to have the best price (640$ + GST/HST; free shipping). The Source has a slightly more expensive (650$) and slightly slower model (i3-6100U vs. i3-7100U - 6% slower, and Intel HD 520 vs. 620 graphics - 13% slower). They have two color choices - silver and gold (I went with the latter.) Here are the detailed specs:

7th Generation Intel Core i3-7100U Processor (2.4GHz, 3MB L3 cache)
Windows 10 Home
14" Full HD Widescreen IPS ComfyView LED-backlit Display (1920 x 1080 resolution; 16:9 aspect ratio)
8GB DDR4 SDRAM Onboard Memory
Intel HD Graphics 620
Acer TrueHarmony Sound System
Two built-in stereo speakers and built-in digital microphone
Secure Digital (SD) card reader
HD Webcam (1280 x 720) supporting High Dynamic Range (HDR)
802.11ac WiFi featuring 2x2 MIMO technology (Dual-Band 2.4GHz and 5GHz)
Bluetooth 4.0
Acer Fingerprint Reader supporting Windows Hello
1 - USB 3.1 (Type-C) port (Gen 1 up to 5 Gbps) supporting data, power and DisplayPort over USB-C
1 - USB 3.0 port (with power-off charging)
1 - USB 2.0 port
1 - HDMI port with HDCP support
4-cell Li-Ion (3220 mAh) Battery, Up to 10 hours of battery life

The weight is 1.5 kg (3.3 lb), so it is highly portable.

The reviews are 4.3 stars from 15 reviews (amazon.ca) and 4.3 stars from 77 reviews (amazon.com; a model with 4GB of RAM).

I am not sure it is hot, but definitely warm.

If this had any stock, it might have been an alternative, but it's not. :|

Not a big fan of 7th gen chips when the 8250u wipes the floor with them.

did a little research on potential issues with this unit.

this laptop has wifi that I would classify as only "ok"/slow and while the screen is nice, many complain that it doesn't get bright enough.

The $699 one from Best Buy has an 8th gen i5 which is much faster than this one. It is as on for BF so may be back for BD.
