[Amazon.ca] Airthings Wave Plus Air Quality Monitor with Radon Detection, $249

There was another sale for just Radon detector. This one has more sensors.
Take into account that this one uses Bluetooth to talk to phone.

For $50 more, you can get the combo and connect to wifi: https://www.amazon.ca/Airthings-Indoor- ... 0876D7J69/

If you’re gonna spring for the extra $50, I’d suggest you go the whole way and get the view plus at $379. Has a built in e-ink display and has built in wifi connectivity so it can serve as a hub to connect additional airthings devices.
Congratulations!
Today is YOUR day.

I've got this last year and it does what it says on the tin. One issue I didn't anticipate is that you can only get readings while the app is running on your phone. It's not a deal breaker for the price that I got it, but I can't fully integrate it into my "smart home" because the updates only happen when the app runs.

Can someone comment how accurate is this? Really interested, but if it's not accurate, then it would not be useful. Thanks!

Doesn't the app have an option to do background sync?

Oh yeah, it's enabled.

Just checked the web console - looks like the last reading was 15 hours ago. So it's not bad, but if you want consistent real time readings, you need to get their hub or the other device that has wifi.

Thanks for confirming. I ordered this today based on reviews and reconsidering the decision lol.

I have the same one and the readings are in realtime. No need for the app to be open. 🤷‍♂️

It does the trick. Based on the reviews that I read it's one of the most accurate sensors for the cost, so it's worth it. Don't think you'll regret it.

This one doesn't have PM2.5. I'm thinking if I should get the view plus instead for my allergy. However, that cost way more.

I didn't see your post. It's a deal breaker for me.

Thanks
Internally radon readings are taken once per hour, so "real time" is really pointless here.

"The Wave Plus logs a radon reading once every hour.

The radon measurements you see in the home screen are always rolling 24 hour averages of the hourly measurements that have been taken."

It has a large internal buffer for readings. If you open the app infrequently you don't lose the readings. They are simply synchronized with your phone and the cloud through your phone when the app is open. It's all in the documentation. Knowledge is power.

That's correct. When I've killed the app on my phone before, I wouldn't get an update for weeks, sometimes days. When I relaunch the app, all the data is refreshed.

In my humble opinion I think you can have a better deal after PM at Homedepot.

I personally just bought the House Kit (4200) at HD.

Airthings
Model 4200 - House Kit (MSRP 399.99)

https://www.homedepot.ca/product/airthi ... ?rrec=true
https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/ai ... e/14585964

HD = 399.99$
BB = 299.99$
DIF = 100$
PM HD = 269.99$ for the House Kit

It's juste 20$ more than the Amazon deal but you have the Hub and the Airthings Wave Mini (mold detection).

The Wave in this bundle is not Wave Plus, but Wave Radon. According to this the chart below, you will lose CO2 and Pressure sensors, but getting the mold sensor. So, it is not really an apple to apple comparision.
