[Amazon.ca] Amazon - Breville Barista Pro $890.11

Hi
I've been debating between Breville Barista Express and Barista Pro for a while.
I've been disappointed with Barista Express sale this blackfriday, so I pulled the trigger and got the Barista Pro for $890.11.

See link for the sale.

Thanks for posting, been watching Barista Pro. I'm disappointed in Breville Barista prices this Black Friday. Barista Pro hovering at $945 on sale. I wanted this model in blue but Bay isn't lowering their price below $945

Just an FYI. I bought a black version of the breville dual boiler 2 years ago. It scratched incredibly easy. Not sure if they've improved in their paint casting. I ended up returning it and getting a stainless steel which has held up.

Thanks for posting image. I’ve owned a number of Breville products. They look nice when new but underneath the stainless steel is all plastic. Sadly this brand is not built to last.

Actually with Breville pro , you are mostly paying the difference for the LCD screen . still it's not 58 mm and still it doesn't have dual boiler.

I bought my Breville Dual boiler early this year in January for $980 before tax from BB&B, and love it. I didn't need the fancy screen on the Barista pro and preferred the dual boiler conveniences. I haven't seen the prices dip that low since January for the DB, but for the Barista pro this is a great price.

You should upgrade that Breville grinder though :) it is not enough for espresso, too many clumps!

Pump and solenoid last about 2 to 4 years of 5 times per week usage. When it breaks, you can't fix it since there is no parts available. Needs to send it back for service. Service cost is about half of buying the unit again plus shipping cost.

Wrong. All parts and instructions are readily available online.

Also interested, I was going to go for the Breville Smart Grinder Pro to match my other breville gear (coffee, kettle, smart oven).
Burr issue is fixed and you can get the parts now.

In due time, saving my pennies for the Eureka specialista!

Wrong, parts are available and I actually fixed this exact issue with my dad's DB machine last year, after 3 years of use. Cost us $45 in parts.

the Pro has much faster heat up time, more powerful steam wand, and improved grinder compared to the Express.

the eureka mignon should be in consideration with the baratza sette 270 at that price range. . .after that, you're over $1k for the next range. . .

Baratza settle is a very good choice. You can go for 270 if you have a budget or 30 if you want to save some bucks. I am very satisfied with Settle 30 but sometimes I miss the extra steps of the 270 although I can manage it by increasing the dose. It is clump-free, super fast and consistent. It is very noisy though just as a reminder.

M two cents and a little bit about my coffee journey. Started out with a Delonghi home espresso machine - pressurized basket - very basic but got me hooked. Was purchasing ground coffee at the time for the pressurized basket.

Upgraded the machine to a proper dual boiler QuickMill E61 grouphead machine which was lovely and was paired with the Sette 270 which I got open box from idrinkcoffee so was very close to the price of the 30 with a lot more flexibility especially if you're going to be using a scale and want a perfect shot every time. Also I am quite OCD about having a clean workspace and single dosing ensures there are no grinds forever on the counter.

Worth the investment. Got hooked on espresso and never paid a penny for coffee elsewhere, wife and I retired our drip machine and it was espresso/latte's going forward. This year I sold my QuickMill machine and purchased the La Marzocco GS3 AV. Worth every penny, love the auto volumetric so I can focus on making the next drink as one is coming out vs. having to manually check scale/time and stop on the old machine. Still using the Sette 270 strong however - looks a little funny beside the behemoth of the GS3!

Tried a lot more grinders and the only thing I could find with better quality/fluffier grinds and also was made for Single Dosing is the Ceado SD models ($3000). Will get there eventually but the only discernible differences are the build quality (plastic vs. metal), bigger burrs (slightly fluffier grinds), and SILENT! Tthe Sette 270 is LOUD. No exaggeration, very very loud. Did a blind taste test at the idrinkcoffee showroom and couldn't tell the difference in coffee.

Do I spend $3000 for a silent, better built version? One day.
But can wholeheartedly vouch for the Sette 270, if single dosing is your thing and you make every shot like it's your last ;)

I had my brevile smart grinder for 2 to 3 years. I stepped up to the Eureka specialita which has been great so far.

I would love to upgrade my espresso machine to the gs3 but.... I'm not made of cashPensive Face in my dreams....
