What is the purpose of these? I know they’re collectable and you register in-game that you have them (scanned into controller, etc), but what is gained from buying them?

I think the answer is “revenue for Nintendo” but maybe there’s something in it for us too.

Didn't even know the pre-orders were available... And that they are releasing tomorrow...

Thanks! I just made my pre-order for all three from Best Buy (I prefer how Best Buy packages the Amiibos versus how Amazon sometimes recklessly packages them).

It's a collectible item just like other collectibles. This at least has some functionality. But if you want to spin it like Nintendo is tricking consumers, then that's your issue.

The same as every single Amiibo. You get in game bonuses depending on what Amiibo and what game you are using them for.

Is the Young Link new? Or a restock of one that was sold previously?

Amiibo used to be rare and limited and have resell value for certain ones... no idea if it still like this though.

Another pre-order thread. I get that these might be highly sought after but there's no deal to be had here.

I'm not spinning anything. I asked a question. What is this "functionality" they offer? Instead of replying rudely and sarcastically, answer my question!

Thank you for actually answering my question without the sarcasm.

im not a Nintendo collector or gamer but as soon as read "Ken" I thought about getting it for my bro. I got him Ryu and a few other amiibo at Walmart 3 or 4 years ago for $10-12 each. At $20+, forget about it.

Wouldn't buy amiibos for the functionality portion. Just buy some NFC stickers and you can write them using an Android phone...

These are collectibles and only that.
