As a pen, I left it in my car for two weeks and tried to write with it the first time couple of days ago, and nothing was coming out of it. Failed as a regular pen. The temperature was about 3-5 Celsius outdoor, is that the reason for the pen failure? That's exactly what a cheap ballpen will do.

Thanks OP. Who knew today I'd be buying a tactical pen for my wife to carry. Read the reviews. One reviewer that sold me wrote, "This is a good gift for a friend or family member who is backpacking in a different country. I had a friend initially chuckle at this when I gave it to her, but she ended up holding it while walking in seedy locations in the evening during her travels. Just an extra bit of confidence during times one may not feel 100% safe."

Apparently a negative is the ink, but can be replaced with Fisher Parker-Style Space Pen refill (the one with the adaptor), according to multiple reviewers.

With lightning deal and coupon, can't go wrong with $9.04 all in. Lightning deal was dead for me too, but fiddled and refreshed the page and came back for me, so jumped on it.
