Lifting 7lb with weightlifting gloves. That will make the barrier of entry too high, you will never use them.

What are you doing that it rips up your hands?
Really wondering as it looks like normal knurling on these.

Biggest downside is likely the time to change weights. Some people may want 2 sets to avoid this.

And the total weight is also not high.

Can these accommodate a few more plates if you want to expand? If so, what's the max weight?

Looks like you might be able to add one more plate on each end if it is also thin and matches the bar diameter.
As for max, hard to say. Depends on how thick each plate is and it’s outside diameter before it gets unweildy.

I have put 60 lbs - 30lbs a side on these but you gotta watch the inside piece holding the weight where your hand goes. They eventually give away and the grip part gets smaller.

Yup, those get shredded pretty quick too using a set like this.

Not sure if it happens to other brands but when I use it I consistently have to adjust the spin lock collars about almost every set depending on the excerise.

These are identical to the CAP brand ones at Canadian Tire. I got them for 50$ a few years ago. They work fine, lol.

I remember pre-covid these weights would often go around 50$.
Figured I might as well give resistance bands a shot, but there are some differences.

2 words: hockey tape

Put a layer or 2 of this lovely cloth tape on the bars to maintain grip while protecting your tender epidermis from the knurling.
