Isla Nublar, Costa R…
I was thinking that prices would be more similar to brita filter pricing. Guess I was wrong.

Does anyone know how frequently one would need to replace these things? looking to pick some up for my GE fridge

My fridge had a little light on it that would change colour when it was time to change the filter. The thing is - it would go EARLY. I usually just waited till the water started tasting like tap water. That is, until I realized that we'd been effectively drinking tapwater for weeks and nobody complained, so I just bought a bypass filter instead. One time purchase, never have to worry about new filters again :)

These tiers are funny. The more you pay the less poisoned you get.

This one:
https://www.amazon.ca/AmazonBasics-Repl ... tor+filter
says maytag but is the one the model number I purchase for my kitchenaid. I am going to give this one a try.
Whirlpool owns both Maytag and Kitchenaid, so it wouldn't be a big surprise if they both use the same filters.

They have Samsung ones too:

https://www.amazon.ca/AmazonBasics-Repl ... ref=plSrch
These work out to about $12 each (if you buy the 3-pack), about 40% less than the Amazon Basics version:
https://www.amazon.ca/Arrowpure-Refrige ... B07H81SM9W

Plus as per the label, they reduce cysts by 99.99%

No LG LT1000P filters :(

Having said that, they have the LT800P filter. Are these things interchangeable? I can't seem to find an answer online, if the LTxxx numbers are just capacity, or if the design of the connectors are different.

Had I had a choice, I'd have avoided the SZ like the plague. Over priced noisy POS...

Where can you get a bypass filter? How much are they?

I saw theirs for $20 bucks for UKF8001 (for my kitchenaid), then noticed even a cheaper "Waterdrop" one for $11.99 bucks!!

I bought mine from PartSelect.ca - cost me about $65 I think? There are probably cheaper options but I'd bought replacement parts from them before so I knew at least from them that it would fit.

Or just dont replace yours. It wont filter but you can keep getting less than filtered water!

That's what I did originally - but after a while, the water pressure coming out of the water dispenser drops significantly.
