Investigate why was item incorrect, Sherlock? It wasn't: The description title was what was incorrect. Of course every time Amazon gets a call about this cpu, it's a different CSR and most likely the first time they've heard of the problem. I doubt they put out an APB for all reps to be aware. To us RFDers reading all the stories, it seems ridiculous that they can't get it right.

I have an ancient AM3 motherboard for my HTPC and an LGA 2011-v3/i7 5930k for my desktop. I hope the B550 motherboards come out soon!

Your 5930k is still a solid CPU. Once overclocked it almost matches a stock 8700, so if you don't need an upgrade then I would recommend holding on.

By now most CSRs should be aware of the 20-25% discount offer for this product (there might even be a memo or note on their system regarding this). I'd try live chat to get the price adjusted to what it's being offered to others.

Funny how they have stock of the 3400G at Amazon.com but won't make it available at amazon.ca so they can wait until the dust settles, people return or decide to keep their 3200 and avoid replacements. Clever.

I got sent a 3200G as well. Amazon assured me (via chat) I will have a 3400G soon but I'm not holding my breath. If I get 50% off a 3200G that will be OK with me too, so win/win.

Regardless, no risk taken - free returns if it doesn't work out.

I'm pretty happy with my 5930k (I have it OCed to 4.5Ghz); I'm planning on using the 3200G for my HTPC which, right now, has an ancient AM3 processor.

You strongly wish so or you are asking? In both cases the answer is... No.
